The Arctic Wolf: Ten Years With the Pack

Not much substance to the text. "I went North, I watched the wolves take down some prey, I went back again, I didn't learn a whole heck of a lot about the wolves". The big breakthrough was in just getting close to them at all.To be fair, at the time, it was a lot more contact than anyone else had been getting with wolves, but the book really just whets your appetite for the sequel, _10 years with the wolf pack_.Nice pictures.

Bought this for an animal behavioral class. Super sad what wolves are going through. But it's a good way to learn about wolves, such as their behaviors, feeding habits, migration patterns, etc. The pictures help a lot too :)!

Wonderful written, educational book with outstanding pictures. Very interesting read. Well recommended & very satisfied with this book!

I enjoyed reading about the lives of these wolves. I only wish I could have been there. The books also contains some great photos.

... Yes , Dr. David Mech is the Mentor of Wolves and "we" are his disciple ... Dr. Mech is the best-known and most highly regarded Wolf researcher in the world , "paws down" ... For "those" who possess the ability to understand Mech , this extraordinaire book must/have to be in Wild shelves ... Unquestionable/Unbeatable book .... Just "few" can feel/see/hear His teachings ....

Everything went smoothly

Because they avoid humans, it's very hard to observe wolf behavior in the wild. Mech managed to do it at a remote site in the arctic. Some of his observations confirm the conventional wisdom, others do not. This makes his book a must for those interested in real wolves as opposed to mythologized wolves or the semi-domesticated wolves in wolf parks. The book is also full of gorgeous, full-color pictures.

A classic which I only recently discovered. The dedication of the author results in amazing insights of life in the pack. The photographs are also amazing.

I recomend this book, although for ten years with them he could of written some more, there are alot of pictures in it, which are great but still more written stuff could of been done, unless there is a book 2 coming?
