Very American, much advertising but useful
Let me set the scene - I am an experienced artist and crafter and am familiar with pretty much every type of paint/technique going, and in a moment of inspiration decided to look at the art of Reborning. And thus I bought this book and one other (see my other reviews).I was a little confused when I opened the book as it seemed to be pages of adverts for other books in the series, and as the book wore on, it constantly plugged a specific kit maker, a specific paint maker and other specific brand names. It was overkill, and it got in the way of what could have been a good book. I was also not happy with the constant disclaimers, telling you that although you may follow the guidelines, the writer cannot be held responsible if it does not work out just right! It got dull after a while and had they removed all the product placement, the book would have been very short indeed!Once I got over the advertorial-in-a-book, the advice within was pretty sound, telling you how to work with the Genesis heat set paints, but rather than focusing on these specialist paints, the book spoke of generic techniques that apply to makeup and oil or acryllic painting equally. In short, as a crafter and artist, there was little in this book that could not be more easily found elsewhere - like the instruction book for the Genesis paint set! It's not a terrible book, I have read worse, but to be honest, check out my other review for the better book, and also the instruction manual that comes with the genesis heat paint set (also reviewed by my good self) as these give more information in a more relevant format.
