Bardot forever
This book beside my copied was in terrible condition the book itself is good and fair,I love the last part of the book and Bardot as an animal activist she is the real thing she love animals with much passion, is well know her fame and beauty and how she has trancended I always said she will be the only movie star from the 20 century remember 500 years from now, she was beautiful and very chic plus timeless, in this book we all will know the real person the real animal lover her pain and joy Serial seductress Brigitte Bardot mesmerized film audiences in the early 1950s as she transformed from sex kitten in modeling shoots to sex goddess in her films. But her fame also ushered in deep depression, no fewer than four suicide attempts, four marriages, more than one hundred lovers -including women - and an unwanted pregnancy with a difficult birth to follow.'In the game of love, she is as much a hunter as she is prey’, Simone de Beauvoir is quoted in the stunning, just released book, Brigitte Bardot: The Life, The Legend, The Movies by Ginette Vincendeau and published by Carlton Books. The book, which pays tribute to the star who just turned 80, also contains pull-out replicas of Bardot memorabilia, including the original movie poster for And God Created Woman.

A great read
Singer's biography of Brigitte Bardot was a very well-researched and insightful compilation of Ms. Bardot's life from her childhood during WWII into the 21st century. There are numerous references to historical facts not only during the war but also postwar France's political and economic directions, and the explosion of new cultural trends. I found it easy to transport myself back in time to experience what life must have been like during those years, which added a whole layer to my enjoyment of the book.Mr. Singer tells us intimate details about Ms. Bardot's relationships with her controlling and self-absorbed mother and overprotective father. We learn about her grandparents and various family members, friends, and tempestuous relationships with her husbands and lovers throughout her often turbulent life. I enjoyed getting to know about Ms. Bardot's experiences and personality via many personal glimpses that the author's engaging writing style brought to life.I learned that behind Ms. Bardot's glamorous and dazzling exterior, there was a vulnerable, sensitive and complex woman who experienced many tragedies and triumphs during her lifetime. There are many heart-warming and heroic references to Ms. Bardot's love and devotion to animals, which continues to the present day.Another aspect of this book that I was impressed with was the author's thorough knowledge and critiques of Bardot's early career and filmography. He includes many interesting details about Ms. Bardot's films, including insights into her relationships with producers, directors and co-stars, and how the public perceived the films. When I got to the end of the book, I found it hard to say goodbye to this well-written biography. It is an excellent, must-read book that will leave you feeling as if you personally know Ms. Bardot.

Our generation
I was so looking forward to this book as I had seen that Brigitte wrote her autobiography several years ago. It is nowhere to be found translated into English and my French does not extend to book reading... I am certain it's very interesting and funny and full of compassion for animals and all creatures. But this biography is written in a boring and repetitive way, mainly explaining the many movies she played and such. I could hardly get through it. Very disappointing. I tried to find the German translation of Brigitte's autobiography because I had seen it in a book store in Germany.I know her own story would be much better than this.

Liked her better before I read this
The author did a good job--too good--of reporting the facts. I still think she was beautiful, good actress, and I appreciate her current efforts for animals, but she must be a tiresome person on a day-to-day basis.

Really??
I don't understand all of the 4 and 5 ratings ...To me, this is one of the worst books I have read in the past 25 years, although I had hopes that it would be otherwise. I thought the writing was poor, the topics were too gossipy and there are far too many paragraphs that ended with boring clichés.I really didn't care to learn that they picked up a pizza at the end of a long day - neither enlightening or meaningful.

Probably the best of BB's biographies with lots of photos (mainly stills from many of her movies). I'm still reading it, having just finished 'TWO LIVES' which was also very good with photos from her childhood too.

A peep through the hole
This book is well researched, but the style could be a little easier. Many bits and pieces of information that one may have gleaned over the years are brought together and placed in context.
