a great training tool
To be fair and honest, I will use this same review for all the snap caps I have purchased, nothing changes just because the caliber does.Snap caps are an inexpensive tool to use for training your trigger pull and reaction when pulling the trigger of your pistol. Before you take your pistol to the range, throw a few of these caps in pistol and practice squeezing the trigger so you get the feel of how much force you need and where it breaks when firing. Next, place a nickel or dime on the front of the barrel (on a semi-auto, this won't work on revolvers), close to the front site. Find a target to aim at, squeeze the trigger until the hammer fires, all while trying to keep the coin in place. Many people will flinch while pulling the trigger in anticipation of the of the upcoming shot. This practice will help minimize or eliminate this problem. The best part about this practice is you're not wasting ammo at the range, now when you get there you can feel more confident. These caps are used to protect the firing pin from bottoming out in its bore buy absorbing the impact when the trigger is pulled. You don't have to use them, but if you break a firing pin and have to have a gunsmith install a new one, the price for these caps would have been a real bargain.

Great for breaking in my rifle.
I had some feed issues with a brand new lever action rifle. I bought these to break it in. After a few 15 minute sessions the rifle was ready to go.

GREAT STUFF!
These are all I use for practice. Even though not plasctic, rims wear out after awhile. Price goes up everytime I need more.

Snap Caps and firing pin damage. Know your firearm before using.
As noted by a previous reviewer, "blanks" Snap Caps cannot be fired in all weapons without firing pin damage. To deal with flinching I was shooting mixed ammo and blanks. After many rounds, the firing pin failed. When I called the factory, I was told not to "fire" any type blanks in my Henry rifle. I have used 9mm Snap Caps without problems in semi-auto handguns. I believe Snap Caps are a great training aid, but they cannot be used in all firearms.

Essential For Responsible Firearms Training
I purchased these snap caps so I could train with a revolver elsewhere than the range without the possibility of becoming the next idiot in the news to negligently discharge a firearm and hurt or kill somebody. They're not quite as weighted as the 240gr rounds I actually shoot, but they're durable and easily distinguishable from live ammunition - though I check and double-check anyway. There's no margin for error when it comes to firearms, and I take that extremely seriously. Even with dummy rounds, I follow the 4 Rules religiously (see Rule #1).They're terrific for running draw/reload drills, though I would rather use a dummy weapon for retention training with other people. They do an excellent job of absorbing dry firing, and I feel secure in knowing I'm not damaging parts of the firearm that my life may depend upon when out in the woods. I bought two sets, and they're worth the price.

Great, I recommend
A-Zoom snap caps are the ones I have come to rely on. The metal construction has stood up over time of cycling and dry firing, other brands seem to crack or rims tear/break off from extraction. they are great for practice when you can't get to the range and you want to work on your trigger squeeze, pull weight adjustment or cycling practice, and a must have for shotguns where there is only one way to release the firing pin spring for storage and that is pull the trigger. These ones are being used in a lever rifle as opposed to a revolver handgun and there has been no issues with them.
