If a lion knows his own strength then no one can control him...same for a Black Man. It's important to be to be able to offer that kind of pride representing pieces in my shop. I specialty is offering original and one of a kind items at modest prices. And by creating unique pieces like this, I'm able to do that. For the most part I kept the original idea for the medallions except I added this gold Lion's head. I made the Lion's head myself using a Resin technique. I thought that using 1 string of chord for the necklace left the whole piece looking cheap and unfinished, so I hand braided 3 chords to give the piece a stronger affect. What do you think? * The Lion's Head is covered with a thin coat of sealant to protect from the elements. *Hand braided Necklace *Lightweight *Please note that the colors may vary slightly because of your monitor configuration

Design in need of modification.
Ordered to support & pay ode to the conscious style that was made famous in the mid to late 80's. I was excited when the order finally arrived but was very disappointed in the design. I am not sure if the vendor of this item was around during the times when these were supremely fashionable as what I received was a far cry from the sturdy woven Afrocentric medallions we rocked back in the day. The design was very cheap in construction. The Lion head basically stuck on to the medallion via glue adhesive & painted gold (which was actually chipped off in some spots) & was secured by a silver loop similar to a key chain (not woven in like the originals). The rope used to suspend the medallion was sort of like a cheap black twine. I actually had to take a trip to the hobby store & re-work the medallion to the desired specs myself. I would recommend the vendor take a look at some of the Faux leather designs by some of the vendors on Etsy. I've purchased a few from there & the construction is superior in comparison.
