Amazon Basics Interior Door Hinge, Rounded, 3.5 x 3.5 Inch, Antique Brass - Pack of 18

I just bought 3 - 18 packs and all 3 boxes had the same issues that I think Amazon (and you) should be aware of. Perhaps the China vendor has been changed or their process in making this product needs to be looked into and updated, especially if Amazon intends to keep their good name on the boxes. My family proudly buys Amazon Basic products without issue, but this product is not up to par. From the great percentage of good reviews, I bought, and the picture is not worth a thousand words in this case. Sorry Amazon. Please look into this; something changed.1. As reported by some, this is not matte black. It is more like an eggshell or satin finish. That would be fine if that was the only issue.2. Scratches on some of the hinges.3. The top of the pin is discolored on ALL of the 54 hinges I bought. If you look at the picture I provided, you will see that it looks as if it wasn't painted fully; almost like an oil-bronze color. I actually thought there was a plastic protective cover on the top and tried to peel it away. Duh, there was none. It is a poor paint job.4. Most of the screws are poorly painted also, so they appear scratched. Even though it really does not matter, just the heads of the screws were attempted to be painted correctly. Most vendors show fully painted screws, proving a better quality and caring job.5. If you zoom in on the picture on the Amazon site or look at mine, you will notice a small bump out on the upper left-hand side of the hinge. This is not problematic, but proves again that the jig or tool used to make these needs updating for better quality. It will probably disappear from sight or from a distance when installed, but nonetheless, a manufacturing defect.I would keep these, but I do not wish to buy black metal paint and paint the tops of all the pins and most of the screw heads after installation. But, that's me. I'll be returning them. There are others on the site around the same price or a bit costlier. The lower priced ones have an embossed label of the manufacturer in them. I' not into advertising hinges in my house! Good luck!

These are awesome and make the process of updating your home from 90’s-campy-gold-crap to super luxury, a snap. And because they’re so cheap, we paired these with the Kwikset Halifax lever (door knobs) in matte black. Although these hinges are not matte, they match perfectly. They open/close like butter. They were super easy to install.Tips:- Splurge for a cheap rechargeable screwdriver thing.- Start by swapping out the middle hinge first, then bottom, then top- DON’T remove all hinges at once. Trust me. - Place a bet with your significant other... You can do all doors, alone, in less than 2 hours. - - After finishing in 1h 25 min, collect on your bet (finish times based on approx. 5 min per door, 17 doors per home).

After much frustration and searching, I found an affordable alternative that is still much cheaper than big box. They are the Hager brand black hinges (sold by various sellers and in various amounts on amazon).Comparing Amazon Basics Matte Black to these Hager Black hinges --Hager is truly flat black, Amazon are glossy-Hager comes with all black screws, Amazon comes with silver screws with painted black tops-Hager comes ungreased, no sound when moving. Amazon comes greased and makes a crackle sound (Its unnerving, especially when your doors have four hinges per door. It’s worse than squeaking! See short video)If you are looking for a flat black hinge, this isn’t them. Search for the Hager ones, which are made by an actual hinge maker. I love amazon but not these at all!

Do yourself a favor, and do not buy these as I noticed few of my doors are not closing properly as if the alignment is off. I also noticed sticky snap noises when the hinges opened and closed. Upon reading other reviews here, one of the users recommended replacing these out entirely with Kessler ones in which I did and now the doors closes properly and those noises are gone. I couldn’t find the Kessler ones in pure black like these but the brushed bronze seems to match pretty close to black. I’m normally a fan of amazon brands in terms of value, but this truly disappointed me.

We bought these to change out tacky gold hinges that screamed 90's. They came packaged individually so they wouldn't get scratched. They are well made, sturdy, and were super easy to install. They aren't too dark either, and matched perfectly to the rubbed bronze door knobs we bought separately. They are a perfect fit, and look SO much better than those awful gold ones! They are exactly as pictured/described, and arrived in the time stated.

These hinges look and work well BUT.... the screws are useless. They are to short and to thin. They pull right out of the door and door frame. Had to go to Home Depot to get proper screws. Doing it this way was still cheaper than buying the hinges at HD/Lowes/Menards.

These hinges arrived to my home in a box, wrapped individually, in mini plastic bags. Upon inspecting the items I noticed that they were all scratched. Some were scratched worse than others. The also felt very stiff to open and close. I am not sure it this will improve with use or not. They do have a good weight to them and feel pretty sturdy. If you can live with the many scratches, then for the money they might be ok. I personally want things to be right when I am purchasing a new item. I am disappointed in all of the scratches.

These cost half of what they sell them for at a hardware store. When you’re replacing a lot of hinges, it saves a lot of money! The oil bronze looks nice. The screw size is fine but my pack came short by 9 screws! I didn’t count in the beginning so it wasn’t until the last door that I noticed. The WORST thing about these is the noise they make when you open or close a door!! It sounds like glue of some sort- not even a squeak. It’s annoying. I am hoping that greasing will help. Overall, a good price.

These hinges have a nice finish to them, which is exactly what I wanted/assumed then to have. They’re a great match for the new matte black handles we installed for the doors. What I found interesting is that they want to stay closed... so my kids are having a hard time getting out of their rooms at night or in the morning. While it’s not a huge issue, it does raise some safety concerns in case of emergency. I can easily open the door but the kids seem to have more trouble with it. I’m hopeful a little WD-40 will fix the issue and it will improve over time as the hinges get more use.

We recently upgraded all our door hardware inside to matte black and had to change the hinges as well. These came in a package with way more hinges than I needed, but even with the extra hinges it was still cheaper than buying them individually in the store. They were easy to install, the only issue I had was with the smallish screws they came with which were too small for some of the holes in our door frames and I had to use some bigger ones I had around the house. Though I think that's more of an issue with whoever installed the original doors in our home than anything.

Surprised at the quality. Pretty good. I bought these cause of the price but I was impressed to see it was good quality (at par with the ones I previously bought at Lowes!) the screws didn't fit all my doors so I had to cut or compromise and use the old screws I had--but to be fair in this review, this happens to almost all standard hinge sets (not all screws work with all door types and in my place we have many different kinds of doors and makes).

Hinges were purchased to replace 30 yr old hinges in condo with metal interior door frames & wood doors. After concluding I was unable to purchase similar coloured & metal tapping srews with matching phillips heads in Canada. I found that taping the existing holes allowed me to use the wood screws provided without any appreciable problem. Simply purchased same dimension metal tapping screw with box head ..predrilled to make holes in frame bigger.....taped with the metal screw then replaced with provided wood screws. These hinges are a perfect match to older rounded corner hinges.
