This thing is very well built, but it looks well used after the first day of use... time will tell as to how well it holds up. Came nicely packed with a bottle of Loctite.Excellent value for the money.Just keep in mind that due to the nature of a single sided magnet, it's more for "vertical" use - like from a bridge or a dock or a boat.If you cast it from a river bank, it will ride on its edge, which is not magnetic, so a 360° or double sided magnet would be a better choice there.

When i 1st opened , looked nice , packaged well. I set a srew driver down expected it to fly to Magnet from 2 feet away, it did not but did wiggle it at a foot and it flew to magnet 6-8 inches. 2nd test i stuck on fridgerator , and was very sad as it slid down the fridge very slowly, did not hold its own weight.3rd test picked up metal folding chair , it did.4th test , got out a gun and it snagged it before touching it with ease , impressed as the gun jumped to it from about 6 inches.5th test ,( 4th and 5th is why i bought it . ) I stuck it to a 3000 lb safe about 3 quarters up , i could not pull it off the safe , stuck a bar thru the eye hole of magnet still could not get off safe , put my feet against wall and could of have tipped safe over, still did nto budge magnet. had to put bar thru and spin it off safe with considerable force , very impressed. except now i owe my buddy a paint job on his safe as it took some paint off getting magnet off.Can not give it 5 stars yet as have not tried to retrieve anything from water. but if metal is thick this magnet will stick . love it so far

After much hesitation and research this was my first purchase to go magnet fishing. I leaned towards the 1500lb magnet as I understood that the calculated force was under ideal controlled conditions. Out in the water when the magnet gets gunked up it is much less than that 1500lb. I’m very satisfied with this magnet and have pulled up some hidden treasures with it so for. For anyone looking to get into magnet fishing, this is one of the best first magnets

This is my third magnet and when I was searching for a strong magnet that could help improve my capabilities of pulling in larger items, I found this 1500lb gem. So far after a couple of outings of magnet fishing, I have pulled in a bucket full of scrap. The heaviness and width of the magnet helps drag on the creek bottom and pull in items my double sided 1200lb missed. I’m really impressed so far.

I haven't found much in the river and lake yet but I know it works. If you get it stuck to a big piece of metal do not try to pull straight off. you will need to slide the edge of that surface or pull the eye to the side to lift one edge of the magnet .

Extremely durable and powerful! Went magnet fishing and pulled up random lake trash. HahaReminder, items like small hooks and small scrap metal won't FEEL like it's a strong magnet. I did hook this to a piece of thick steel plate, and it took every ounce of strength I had to get it off... flat surfaces = EXTREME force to remove! Be prepared to swim if you're not careful!
