Fit perfect, the OEM was leaking from the bowl and the gasket kit was like $10 less than a brand new carb and this one runs like a dream, haven't had to make any idle adjustments yet.

I've had my father's (RIP) old 5 HP Mercury outboard in my tool shed for over ten years.. The old girl simply would not run when I tried to use it again. I put this new carburetor in and now it runs like new.. I know somewhere my father's smiling knowing his cherished outboard is running again. BTW, it only took less than a half hour to install.

Good carb, bolts right on, engine runs good, part looks brand new. Don't forget to take the fuel inlet protective cap off

Carb was great and came preset to factory specs. The only reason there is not a 5 star rating is because nothing in the description indicates that there is NOT a gasket included. Not too much of a big deal, but had I known that no gasket came with it, I would have ordered one with the carb. Instead, I had to find out when it got here and order a gasket then, which set me back a few days.

My old 1997 Mercury 4 hp kicker motor refused to idle and run more than 10 seconds. Replacing the fuel filter and adding Seafome failed to help. The replacement carburetor performs like new and was a breeze to install. It started right up and required no adjusting of the screws! Be sure to order the gasket too. Very happy with the carb and seller.

Incredible that I had a 2004 Mercury 5hp 2-cycle outboard in storage for 10yrs because it would not start. My youngest son wanted to try and get it running, and determined we needed a carburetor. We purchased this item because it was inexpensive. It fit perfectly and solved the problem.

I cleaned the OEM carb about 5 or 6 times trying to get it to properly idle. I had no success. I tried a carb repair kit. Didn't work.The engine just wanted to scream all the time. I even made a YouTube video about it. Something must have been really clogged internally and was no longer serviceable.This new carb one works very well. I can idle, run it WOT, and it starts on just a few pulls cold as long as there is fuel. It starts easily when warm.

I tried to cheap out and bought this - it ran fine for a couple weeks then was getting worse and worse.Engine was barely running - This carb was already starting to corrode (saltwater).I replaced this purchase, with an OEM carb, and my outboard has been running amazing for the last two months.

The on on the Left is from Amazon - On the right is Japanese old.I was little bit skeptical what will I receive since carb in picture looked nice. Item received was the same like in picture! wow!!!Upon detailed examination it seems excellent quality and workmanship. In comparison side by side with Japanese made ( see picture) looks way better quality!! Look at die-cast quality, excellent and all smooth edges.I did not open carb and i will not open it until necessary...Once i Installed it, without any adjustment engine started on second pull!My fuel line was empty, which means that diaphragm pump is very good!Diaphragm membranes goes on these engines due to Ethanol that eats every seal and gasket in engine including hoses...Run power test and takes throttle very good. It seems that all five horse power is there! !! Excellent!Carb should include inexpensive gasket that goes between carb and engine block. Since this is paper it may tear and nuisance to get it.Other that that i very satisfied with price and quality.I will have to see how it will perform on long run.

I was struggling with my small mercury outboard 2002, I changed every replaceable part in the old carb to no avail, now it's flying. Even the finish of the piece is better then the original one.
