Fantastic read
I can't fully explain how much I enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down. It's different from a usual thriller and you'll be hooked all through the entire book. You get a glimpse of how terrible people can be. I plan on ordering more books by this author. It really is an amazing read. I'm waiting for more. Congrats to this author.

A twisted tale for sure
First, let me state that I think most readers like me who habitually read thrillers will figure this one out pretty quickly. I knew "whodunit" a quarter of the way into the book. Frankly, I thought it was obvious. That said, I still enjoyed the read both to find out if I was correct as well as to see what other twists the author would throw into the mix. There are quite a few.I must say that I LOVE our detective hero, Dan Riley. Dan is a great guy, and that intuition of his rivals that of us gals. Well done, Dan.My pet peeves always are profanity and graphic sex and violence. While sex was limited and violence no more graphic than fit the narrative, the book does contain quite a bit of cursing and profanity. Too much for my liking but some readers don't have a problem with that. I do. Perhaps other than a "word" here or there for emphasis or as a reflection of a character's personality, I have no use for vile language, either written or spoken. I was always taught that intelligent people should be able to express themselves adequately without gutter talk.Another small annoyance in this book, and so many others as well, is the misuse of "you and I" and "you and me." This is SO common but I expect an author to know the correct usage of each; however, most certainly editors and proofreaders should know the difference! For anyone struggling with this, here's an easy way to know which is correct. "You and I will go." Drop "you and" then "I will go" is correct. "They gave the award to you and me." Do the same: they gave the award to me. Simply say the sentence using either "you" or "I" alone and you'll never get it wrong. Sorry for the grammar lesson but we're in dire need of it!For the most part, The Couple on Cedar Close was a pretty good read. So, yes, I do recommend it - despite all my hang ups about grammar (and punctuation)!

well done psychological thriller
I cringe every time I read a book review which starts with, “unputdownable read,” but that is what I feel about every book I’ve read in the series. Although this is book 2, it’s the 4th one I’ve read, and each has been impossible to put down, which bothers me because I only have two remaining.I am in love with DI Dan Riley…someone like him can only exist in novels, I’m afraid, but I love having a crush on him. This is a terrific series. Great characters and certainly not run of the mill plots.I won’t give anything away, but I promise you”ll enjoy this book…if you like “unputdownable” psychological thrillers.

Ok story but you knew someone set Laurie up almost from page 1
The book opens with a neighborhood bar-b-que and Laurie having a meltdown after hearing Robert on the phone with his mistress, Claire, and the child they had together. Flipping forward Laurie and Robert have been living apart and Laurie is preparing a meal to try to get Robert back; hair done, his favorite meal and dress, being stood up and Laurie waking to be covered in blood. Robert was a womanizer, while the author did tell of other woman, implied there was more than one at a time. The marriage was totally toxic and why someone would stay with this person is a wonder to me.Detective Delaney and his boss Woods wants this to be an open and shut case, however another detective tells “Woods” it just doesn’t feel right. With Delaney and Woods pushing for the case to solved, there is a lot of ground to cover, and the story that comes out is unbelievable. Someone already reviewed and gave you the entire plot, which I won’t do. The story was good, was it the best read, no would I read again by the same author, not sure. It sure did twist and turn.

A TERRIFIC READ!
What an enjoyavle novel! From beginning to end, I couldn’t put it down. The plot was twisted & entertaining. The characters were realistic——the good ones were human & empathetic. The bad ones were evil, the kind of characters a reader loves to hate.Although the novel was a bit slow to build up in the beginning, once the author found her stride, the plot picked up its momentum & everything began to flow.I especially liked the ending. I love when rotten, miserable characters get the life they deserve. Although I quickly deduced who killed Robert, & who a certain character actually was, I still found this novel to be suspensful.I’ve got Anna-Lou Weatherley’s next novel & will be reading it in a few minutes. The author did a great job writing this novel. If you’re a reader of stories of murder & suspense, withwell thought out characters, you’ll enjoy this novel.

Sensational Story!!!
I just finished this book and couldn't put it down. I enjoyed every word! It was absolutely riveting, so well written. All the loose ends were tied up perfectly and I especially enjoyed that it didn't just end abruptly as some psychological thrillers do. I loved the final 2 chapters and epilogue. It wasn't rushed, it all made good sense, the airplane conversation, Laurie needing to see her "friend" face to face, and ending with Dan and Fiona's news. Loved, loved, loved!!!

One sunny August afternoon, the residents of Cedar Close throw their annual summer barbecue. Children play in the cherry-tree lined street, tables are laden with food, and the wine is flowing. For Laurie Mills, it’s her first time meeting the neighbours. And it’s the first time she discovers her husband Robert Mills is having an affair.Robert wants to divorce laurie so that he can lead a family life with his mistress and child. One evening,he goes back to serve divorce papers to Laurie. On the other hand,Laurie plans to win him by preparing dinner. He doesn't show up on time she drinks too much and blacks out.She awakens to the dark house and her husband lying next to her dead in his bedroom. Her dress is fully soaked with his blood and she can’t remember the last few hours. But she knows she didn’t kill Robert. His throat slashed open and stabbed multiple times. Detective Daniel Riley takes this case and all evidences falls on prime suspect Laurie. Daniel finds something doesn't add up and wants to dig further about Robert's past. This was my first read by Anna-Lou Weatherley and enjoyed reading this book. It is definitely a page turner. With all messed up characters, the story just grabbed me into it.A psychologically abusive relationship, betrayal, lust, lies, addiction, jealousy all packed in one.

Sehr spannend
