I'd be happy if someone could tell me what is the widest bottle size that will fit into this mixer? Also how is the bottle held in place?

You don't put anything in it. You just hold the bottle that needs mixing against the blue rubber part and push down a bit. It will then start vibrating and mixing the contents in a circular motion. I guess you can mix anything from small test tube sizes to 50cl bottle size. I'm very happy with mine. I use it for mixing paint 30ml paint dropper bottles. It also has some weight to it and does not have a "cheap" feel to it.

Would this work on citadel paint pots?

Yes you can use on Citadel pots but imo works better on bottles like Scale75 Vallejo etc Id advise adding an agitator to your pots. It will still stir up your citadel pots though. Maybe use this as a good reason to begin swapping your paint brand, I'd advise you to do so. Try Scale 75 Fantasy and Games range and you'll never look back at Citadel. Good luck and happy hobbying.

Has anyone used this to mix calligraphy inks?

Works perfect, just hold it about 15-20 secs and like a breeze. With glitter inks you can shake it on the lid to get better results (check the lid if it's closed before doing so ;-))

Can you get replacement power pack as mine seems to have stopped working
