Polishing
This more of a polishing brush then one to expose the base but very good for polishing and i would recommend it.

1 of 2 brushes that every xc ski waxer should own.
Whether you are brand new to waxing your own skis or an old hand, this is an essential brush for training and racing wax. The beauty of copper is that it is nearly idiot-proof. The softer bristles of the copper are gentler on your skis' base stucture than other metal brushes, but still do a great job removing most surface wax. I use this brush before waxing to "open up" and clean out the base a bit. After waxing, I use a groove scraper and a plexi scraper to remove most visible wax, then move on to this brush to take out the majority of what is left on the ski. (Remember, always brush tip to tail only). The number of brush passes on the ski varies by the hardness of the wax used as well as how much you scraped; it is safer to scrape less and brush more. I usually do about 10-20 passes. After using this brush, I switch to a relatively stiff white nylon brush to give the base a good polish. Normal people can stop right there. OCD ski preppers can finish off with a soft blue nylon brush for that last 1% of cleaning and polishing. Clean the brushes and your waxing area floor with a vacuum, and you are ready to ski!

Solid brush for ski maintenance.
Before I apply wax to a ski or snowboard, I first want to clean the base. I use a copper brush to for this.I run the metal brush down the ski from tip to tail a few times.

Durable wooden handle - no it isn't.
Terrible quality. In my delivery the wooden bit must be unseasoned wood - one day only in a centrally heated room and it has warped, cracked and may well split completely. And if you attempt to remove the mess after peeling off the paper gummed labels from Toko and the distributor using simple meths the 'painted' Toko logo comes off in an instant and you end up with yellow paint all over your hands. The paint seems to be water based ! I have provided a photo of my now banana shaped brush. Copper brushes themselves OK if they stay in - not if it splits open. I guess it will work OK as long as it does not go on warping and split into two pieces (Rather annoying - I also bought the nylon Toko brush earlier and the wooden handle on that one is fine.)
