Devils in the detail
The items at first appear to be a decent quality and fully compatible. Upon installation every part bolts up things look good. The water pump is the most problematic item in the kit. It (water pump) didn’t have the alignment dowel pins in it but no big deal just remove them from the old one and problem solved. So further on in the installation everything is good until I have the timing covers and engine mounts back on the engine along with 90% of the accessories I figure I better start the engine just to make sure it starts and runs. Here is where I discover the catastrophe and near death of my pilot engine. It starts and runs but after about 2 seconds smoke is pouring from under the timing covers. I immediately turn off the engine to investigate the cause. Removing one of the timing covers and then turning the engine over manually with a ratchet I discover the water pump isn’t turning. So I remove all the accessories to gain full access to all the timing components I once again turn over the engine manually only to discover every item to be rotating just fine. Here is where the poor quality control shines through. When the water pump was manufactured the pulley stuck out about 1/8” too far causing it to hit on the aluminum engine mounting bracket. So when the mount was installed and torqued the interference caused my problem. Confident I had done nothing incorrect during installation I proceeded to measure the distance the old one stuck out and compared it to the new one. This clearly was the problem. I immediately removed ever component that came with the kit and drove to the local auto parts store and purchased another timing kit. Installed it without incident. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANY ONE!!

Made a hard job harder 2002 Odyssey
This kit had problems, but I made it work so I didn't return it and am leaving a 2 star "do not recommend" review. This is for installation on a 2002 Honda Odyssey EX (J35A4 engine) which Amazon said would fit. The new water pump looked ok, the new seal fit nicely, but it had no dowel pins so I pulled the ones from the old pump. The dowel pin holes in the new pump were too large to retain the pins so I super glued them and moved on. The tensioner pulley casting was 2mm shorter than the original which left the pulley really sloppy after torque. I have a lathe & mill so I made a spacer (25mm ID x 35mmOD x 2mm t) and moved on. The belt seemed like it was way too short to install. The belt was fine, but when I compared the new tensioner to the original I saw that the hole for the retainer "grenade pin" was drilled with the tensioner almost fully extended. The shaft is hardened so I couldn't drill a new hole, but the feature on the tensioner pulley casting that contacts the tensioner shaft was unfinished (big lumpy casting seams) where the original was ground smooth. I ground it smooth which provided some relief for the belt, but not enough. I had to get a skinny pry bar on the pulley and pull the grenade pin while depressing the tensioner while sliding on the belt (stupid difficult) and moved on. Then the motor mount wouldn't install over the water pump pulley. I had to remove the water pump to find the pulley was about 1/4" taller than the original which interfered with the motor mount. I pressed the pulley further down the shaft until it didn't interfere with the motor mount and moved on. My work-arounds were quicker than return/replacement, but if I had known each of these things would pop up I'd have bought a different kit. It made an already hard job much harder and I'm left to wonder how long the parts will last. The vehicle isn't used much so I'm hoping to get a few years from these parts even if it's only a few thousand miles. No comment on the seals in the kit, I didn't use them.
