Highly Recommend this fun book
My 9 yr daughter loves this book and is now buying for her friends' b-day gifts. It's creative and clever with all things travel including what to pack, staying safe, currency conversion, and trying and finding new things (fun eye spy tips) as well as interactive quizzes. This would be a great gift for any girl planning or dreaming of travel. Loved it!

perfect for kids who love to travel, even if they are stuck at home
This book is the cutest! I bought one for each of my 2 girls, ages 9 and 11 and they both love it. It's fun for them to personalize, and it's getting them excited and ready to start traveling again!

I love these books
These books always capture the kids attention. They feel engaged and read these so quickly that I constantly have to buy more. They share them with the neighborhood kids as well!

Daughter loves it
I bought this for our daughter in anticipation of her first real vacation, plane ride and all. The book seems geared more towards international travel but she liked it nonetheless. All of the "Smart Girl's" books are fantastic. We have the "feelings" book and the first "keeping you" book which is age appropriate for my 8 year old and has a bit of puberty and menstruation in the book but its very friendly and my daughter skips over it for now.

Mind-Opening
I consider myself lucky that my daughter is pretty fearless. She's always been amazing at trying new things, new foods, and new places. As a matter of fact, I daresay if we hit the lottery, she'd be first in line to visit every country. Well, maybe second behind me. In any event, since the lottery has not become ours yet, we're stuck stateside for now.Regardless, this is a handy little book, giving pointers on packing (including explanations for why), map reading, snack prep, and even navigating airport security. This book is very interactive, containing quizzes in every chapter to help girls figure out what kind of traveler they are, and to get them thinking. Much of it is geared to international travels (discussing language barriers, currency, and food), but an awful lot is also useful here domestically. The most important thing, in my opinion, is that this gets girls thinking and working toward traveling independently. I plan on letting my daughter pack her own suitcase the next time we go somewhere, as she's used to me doing it for her.

Pertinent and pragmatic
I enjoy these "A Smart Girl's Guide" and that's why I selected "A Smart Girl's Guide: Travel: Everything you need to know about adventuring near and far" by Aubre Andrus (Illustrated by Stevie Lewis. I read a lot of travel guides but this guide is great. It does have a target audience of girls but the advice is applicable for those beyond the teens. It is practical and easy to relate to. It covers preparation to manners to how to handle surprise changes. It has advice on how to handle jet lag and boredom. It covers road trips and plane travel. There's ideas on trying out food to handling cultural differences. It never goes too long as to muddle the message and the advice is pragmatic and pertinent. Very well done.
