This book is outstanding! The covers are of thick, slick paper and the inside pages are slick paper with quality thickness. There is color throughout the book and the color is sharp and bright. The printing is very clear and readable.Although this art and story from the 1930s/1940s Good Housekeeping Magazine is unknown to casual Disney fans, it is an important part of early marketing efforts of the small Disney company of that time. I've known about these art and story treasures for decades and I'm thrilled to now own them in this book!!The information in the book appears to be thoroughly researched and is presented in an entertaining manner.I have bought previous books from Gemstone Publishing, so I knew their quality work - but the quality of this book surpasses even my expectations.I feel that any Disney fan, especially those interested in the early cartoons and the early animated films, will love this book. This book is a bargain at its full suggested retail price, but it is a bargain deluxe at Amazon's reduced price!!!I have spent hours pouring over this book and expect to get weeks of pleasure reading it. It is the type of book that I will return to read in the future again and again and again.One note of warning ... Gemstone Publishing's books usually don't have large print runs. If you decide you want this book, I would suggest ordering it as soon as possible while it is still available for sale.

Walt Disney became an overnight success with the release of Steamboat Willie. That success and fame continued to grow during the 1930's. The magazine Good Housekeeping would illustrate an upcoming Disney cartoon on a monthly basis. This book reproduces all the pages from Good Housekeeping and provides a comparison with the actual film since there are many interesting discrepancies. These discrepancies can be accounted for by the fact that some of the pages were published long before the actual short was released and sometimes reflected a storyline used in early development. Other pages detail films that never made it to the screen. This gives great insight on the development of the Disney shorts of the 1930's and early 40's. And these are not sanitized accounts as the Disney company nowadays would prefer. Racial and ethnic stereotypes reflective of the era are correctly represented in the illustrations for respective shorts.A must have for Disney connoisseurs.

This book is a treasure chest full of gems from Disney's past. The main content of the book is a feature that ran in Good Housekeeping during the '30s and '40s which promoted the latest Disney films with original artwork and a poem summarizing the story. However, this book adds many other goodies such as comics, ads, posters, and even toys, from this period in Disney history. Every page is absolutely jam-packed with Disney goodness!The book is beautifully designed and printed, with the artwork and photos reproduced in lush colors on high-quality glossy paper. It really makes you appreciate just how great Disney's artists were. Although it's a soft cover, the book feels sturdy, and is something you'll want to put on display and keep for years to come.I seriously consider this a "must-buy" for any fan of classic Disney.

This is an amazing book. This is not just a simple reprint of the Good Housekeeping pages but so much more. The team on this book did an amazing job.

If you are interested in cartoons or the World of Disney then you will find this book amazing. I am the grandson of one of the artist - Henry "Hank" Porter and he was key to supply insignias to the various arm forces during WWII. It is the most complete book that I discovered on my grandfather! Cool history!

From 1934 to 1944,  Good Housekeeping  magazine included a legendary series of Disney one-page features. Disney cartoons were adapted into beautifully illustrated rhymed verses. Almost all of these pages are great. In addition to that, the book includes a lot of other material. The plots of the actual cartoons are synopsised, with differences between the cartoon and the GH page being noted. And other merchandise based on the cartoons is featured; including toys, presskits, comic strips and much more. This is truly a treasure trove for Disney fans.

Volume importantissimo per ricostruire la popolarità delle Silly Symphonies. Illustratissimo e corredato di note e notizie fondamentali per chi ama quella serie.

Recibí el libro muchísimo antes de lo que estaba previsto. Bien por ello. Pero cuando desenvolví el paquete me encontré con una auténtica obra de arte. El libro en sí es genial, recomendabilísimo a cualquier fans de Disney y sobre todo de Mickey. Aparte he de decir que hacía muchísimo tiempo que no veía una edición tan extraordinaria; un papel excelente y una impresión de colores vivos y geniales. Del 1 al 10 le doy un 15. Excelente 100%
