Hood Latches Aluminum Hood Catch for Jeep Wrangler JK, JKU Rubicon Sahara Sport 2007-2018, No Drilling Needed (Matte Black, 1 Pair)

Look different than most other hood latches out there. Installed today and took me about 30 minutes with Allen keys, 1/4 socket wrench, 13mm, and 10 mm sockets. Anyone saying you need extensions, swivels, removal of airbox etc don’t know how to take the easy route of installations on anything or are mechanically inept.Well we’ll see how well these hold up but for now they look great and there is zero chance of hood flutter when I drive 600 miles each way in a couple weeks. Woohoo!!

Experienced hood flutter during hwy driving in gusty winds. Almost left skidmarks in my undies. Bought these based on reviews and not disappointed. Used different extensions with 1/2" socket to get the oem and new one installed. Reused oem hardware with blue locktite versus new hardware since oem had zero rust when removed. These are all metal and solid. Slightly adjustable hood mount but these clamped down with such firm force that no chance of future hood flutter. Looks very nice on my black rubi. Install with the allen wrench tricky since there's not a clean path to the hex bolt in the folding clamp but got enough force on the bolt head to prevent it from spinning while I rachet the 10mm bolt from the inner fender. Solid unit.

I got this for my 2008 Jeep Wrangler X. The first time in July 2021. Then in February 2023.Both times it fixes the OEM hood latch fluttering, especially from crosswinds.Got a second one because the latch fell apart. Now, I do most if not all my vehicle maintenance so I would have noticed if the screws came out little by little as at least once a month I open my hood to check on fluids. I only noticed the screws missing the first time once I was at highway speeds and one of the actual latch fell off from one side. This second time only one screw fell out.Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. When I say I do my own maintenance I mean I do everything from oil changes, changing my intake manifold, and servicing my differentials. I often do a 2nd pass on everything just in case I left something loose.So here's the wild speculation: there's a chance someone may have just unscrewed the latch bolts. I had the vehicle in storage last year for about a month. I also live in a sketchy part of town. If this is the case, you might want to buy something that can't be taken apart from the outside.There was no fluttering on the hood that would vibrate the bolts loose. And if they did vibrate loose, I'd imagine all of them would be loose at the same time. Problem is, the rest were tight.Will I buy these a 3rd time? Probably. The hood and panels are off after an accident. Other latches are more secure but if your Jeep wasn't the same after an accident/trail, those may not work as I learned the hard way. Other latches won't give you that tightness you need to stop the hood flutter or won't even close will unless you drill new mounting holes.

FINALLY!! Some built a hood catch for the JK that is very well made and fits properly with out hitting the hood when latched. I am a machinist and after going through 5 other brands, I finally found a hood catch that is well made and I feel good about putting on my JK. One issue that I would mention is that the only thing that could make it better is have SS pins go through the castings so that the shear load is on the pins rather than the screws. Other than that, very high quality product and very well made. Latches tightly, adjustable, quality hardware (although I reused the factory nuts with built in washers). Plenty of clearance from hood. Snap closed with a very satisfying sound. No way my hood is going to flutter with these. They look great as well!

No more hood flutter. No more cheap rubber. Nice latch. Strong and sturdy. Looks good too. Very happy with this product. Easy installation if you remove the grill and use a 6" (or more) extension with a universal joint. Just need to break free the initial tightness on the factory screw and then use your fingers to untighten... Installing the new latch is a breeze. probably the hardest part is starting the nut on the back of the screw in the engine compartment. Once you do that, use an open end wrench to hold the nut and tighten with the the allen wrench on the other side. Can't recommend this latch enough.

This product does exactly what I wanted it for and that is to stop the hood from dancing in cross winds or when going down a two lane road with oncoming semi trucks. The first time I experienced the hood shake I damn near soiled myself so it had to be fixed.The installation instructions leave ALLOT to be desired. 4 pictures is not instructions! Luckily it's not my first time using a wrench. The hood section is very straight forward, with little instruction needed. However the lower section could use some help. We ended up taking the grill off to access the bolts a little easier. Getting them off is easy, getting them back on is a bit of a challenge. We found the best method was to us a ratcheting box end wrench, with a flexible head. My son had the great idea of putting duct tape on one side to hold the nut in place on the wrench. Then you could use the allen wrench from the outside to start and tighten the nut. This process worked great for us. I just wish we would have discovered it on the first side???Aside from the install and lack of instructions, this would have been a 5 star. The latches are sturdy, they look good and fairly easy to adjust. Most importantly, they stopped the hood dance!

Bought these to replace my aftermarket American flag latches. Flags were failing at plastic clip parts (broke & chipping) and screws walked themselves out and disappeared.. These latches fit in exact place of the old ones and have amazing solid construction along with actual bolts to keep tight. Love the look and even more the construction!

If I had 4 thumbs I would give 4 thumbs up! I recently had another manufacturer's hood hinge fail on me and started looking for a replacement. These are an excellent value, high quality, and look great. Immediately upon opening the package I could tell they were constructed much better than my previous aftermarket hinges.

These are a great upgrade from stock hood latches. Nice and tight, no hood flutter on highway anymore!

Hood flutter is gone! Nice solid latches. Don't watch the youtube videos and think it is going to be an easy install... pain in the butt to install unless you remove your grill and headlights. Save yourself the hassle and spend 5 minutes removing the grill and headlights.

They were easy to install and hold the hood down well. They look much better but also make me feel safer with my daughter driving the jeep

A little hard to install but more fault of my jeep than the hood latches. They look great and are super nice and sturdy for the insane wind storms which is exactly what I was after.

A little difficult when you have to remove the bolt pins in the bottom of latch , the shims or washer fall out , just needs a little better care and time when putting back together.I bought to for adjustability so hood didn’t bend the fender when applying the clamp down previous ones I bought were not as good as these .Top marks for rugged , durable and looks
