Atlas The Giant Destroyer 6

Best chance of success
I've tried mole traps, mole "worms," sprays, granules, sonic units, you name it, and the little buggers get around it every time. These are successful, simple as that. I've found a couple of hacks. First, it helps to triangulate when placing these. I put one near the end of each tunnel, then smash down all the tunnels a few hours after the first bombing. The moles evidently flee the smoke and go to a central area, and if the tunnels are short enough, they die there. Anything that pops up again is active, but it's usually in one localized area. I target those areas on Day 2, and the moles are dead, dead, dead. I use 1/2-inch PVC pipe to make the hole, and it's perfect. Also, it helps to have some wide bricks or stones around instead of trying to situate these flaming gassers with your hands. Place the gassers, light them off, wait until the flame reaches the capsule and produces smoke, then gently lay the stone or brick over them, trapping the gasses inside. It also helps to minimize the chance of nearby grass catching fire. About that: for those people concerned about this, I do have a hose on and primed as I do this, then turn it on the "mist" setting and lightly mist a 3/4-foot area around each gasser when it's done spewing smoke. Since we had a dry autumn, and one mole tunneled under the bark mulch, I lightly misted the entire tunnel that time when the burn was done, and I never had a problem with it--and the mole died in that single gassing. For those concerned about the fumes, I should mention that I am DEATHLY allergic to sulfur, and even though it's impossible to avoid the fumes around here, I've never taken any harm from it. It looks to me like a single gasser only covers maybe six feet, given how far away I see smoke escape, so I have to be realistic about what I can accomplish with a single package. I've gotten rid of five or six infestations like this, and it's incredibly satisfying. Now, if my neighbors would only shut down their mole maternity ward, I might get some peace from the little monsters....I received no compensation whatsoever for this review.

We have been using this product for many years now and it does a superb job of controlling ground squirrels.

work good
I have been using these for several years now they definitely keep the moles under control nothing is permanent I use a leaf blower to help push the gas through the tunnels definitely helps. but with this last batch I got I am having a lost of trouble with the canister igniting on the first try I have resorted to cutting the fuses in half to give me an extra try at starting it over all will I am happy with them and will continue to use them.

Faulty Product
I have used this particular brand of gasser for many years and have used between 250-300 of the giant destroyer brand so I am very familiar with them . I have used them for armadillo and ground hog holes as armadillos are tearing our property to shreds and dig under every bush , flower , shrub , etc that I plant . They also try to dig entry holes under our home . In the past they have been very effective . I bought a bunch here on Amazon from a Pennsylvania garden center . This group was all flame and very little smoke more like a flare . They were obviously defective but I cover the hole after I light them . After having done this one afternoon , I went outside about 6 hours later and 2 of them had lit roots on fire underground and had lit our woods on fire . It was about 1/4 acre fire and with about 500 feet of hose and an hour of firefighting I finally put it out at 1AM . I couldn't believe this had happened after having used so many in the past with no issues . The next day I lit one on the driveway and found this huge flame like a flare was burning with very little smoke . I burned another and it was the same . I contacted the Amazon seller who referred it to Atlas who makes the Giant Destroyer . They gave me a lame excuse about weather conditions etc with no offer to do anything about the defective product somehow putting the blame on me for not knowing how to use them which is nonsense . The seller didn't offer to do anything to make it right either . These gassers in the past have made very large amounts of thick smoke but not this batch . They obviously are either changing their chemical composition or were outright defective . And nobody offered to make it right ! I will try the Victor brand next time !

This batch seems "old"
Good product overall, however this shipment seems old to me. Dry and cracking, fuse has been falling out frequently due to the breakdown of the stick content. I've used these in the past for my gopher war, but these just seem like they were in the back of the warehouse for a long time and finally shipped. I would not by from this vendor again, but the product is good. I now use the solar powered sonic spikes, and they ARE working! I have the gophers on the run finally, after years of gas use and playing whack a mole with them. I'd recommend them vs. gas.

Part of my mole war arsenal
Of course, as with all flammable products, you must use extreme caution. This is not a toy, but I have a military background and know a thing or two about incendiary devices. I've used this product effectively and it keeps moles away. I can't say what happens underground when this product is used but at a minimum, they will not return. Frankly, the sulfer scent is more of a repellent is my guess. My advice is to use latex gloves when handling and make sure the mole hole is a clear path before lighting up one of these fatties. If there's no place for the smoke to go, you'll have a dangerous firework cone to contend with. Don't to that. Insert the fuse into the core, light and then insert into the mole hole that you exposed. Once the flare action occurs, cover the hole with the excess dirt and give a hearty primal scream to send a message to the mole enemy that you aren't messing around.

These work like a charm
If you are dealing with tunneling rats or gophers these things work like a champ. The only downside is that if that if they aren't packed well for shipping, some of the powdercomes out of the cylinders. If and when that does happen, you can pack it back into the tube. I topped mine off w/ a little crazy glue to hold the loose powder in place, but this might have been overkill.
