Excellent Book!!!!!!!
Great Book!!!!!! I got to meet the author at the 2007 IPMS National Convention in Anaheim, CA. He was photographing models that caught his eye, and asked me to give him the lowdown on mine. I COULDN'T believe MY garbage was acknowledged. You can bet my throat went dry after 20 minutes.

Very nice book
It's slim (80 pages) and printed on somewhat thin paper. Divided into 7 chapters: construction, painting, decaling, conversions, detailing, weathering and gallery. Similar to other Kalmbach books - color throughout, photos covering most of the pages, less space devoted to text. The book is accessible to beginners, although techniques used are not described in great detail. I can imagine some complete novices having to learn basics elsewhere. Main strength of this book is the author's ability to describe issues unique to airliner modeling and presenting various ways of addressing them. Great for modelers new to the genre. As can be expected, experienced modelers may not learn much new - but it's impressive how much information is packed into this little volume.I certainly enjoyed reading it.

It served to wet my whistle for this genre of models. It is not an in-depth tutorial, but rather a general review of the skills Mr. Skinner has in building airliners. Follow along and you will learn something if you are new to the game.Mike C., South Carolina

Old hands and Newbies will learn a thing or two
I have been a fan of Mr. Skinner since he's been with FSM, but I never realized he was such an airliner fan. He does a great job of explaining most of the aspects of airliner modeling, from basics to superdetailing. I especially loved the tip on painting gloss white, airbrushing a thinner-heavy coat to smooth out the gloss white. I was able to "up my game" significantly with this one tip! Great guide for beginners and experienced builders alike!

page turner !!
Being a modeler for over 25 years now, most of the tips and tricks are known. But it's very nice to have all required information bundled in one book with excellent comment next to it.Superb photographs together with clear explanations make this a page turner !Highly recommended, not only for a beginner.Even an experienced modeler can still learn something and that makes this hobby so special. To me at least :-)
