Can you use this on anything other than a galaxy phone?

Yes, you can use these on all phones with Bluetooth. There are some functions missing if you use it with an iPhone, for example voice assistant may not work, but as headphones they'll still work fine.

Do phone calls come through in both ear buds like airpods or just one ear like the Bose wireless headphones?

Both bugs receive the call. Calls are pretty muffled for the wearer, like being under water almost. Incredible for music, terrible for phone/video calls.

9 hours continuous playtime?

I haven't got 9 hours continuous from it - more like 5 - 6? But the case will charge it up between proper charges.

Do these have gesture controls for forward rewind play and pause

Technically just touch control (tap) rather than gesture control like the Microsoft Surface buds. I've had no issues with the touch, even tried the labs option to double tap the edge for the volume control but found that hit a bit hit and miss.
