Novel Dog Jogger-Stroller, Outdoors Green

This is the best stroller I've looked at. That said, there's definitely room for improvement.PROS:- sturdy- convenient for flat, concrete/dirt trails- folds down to put into back of vehicle- most of the components are high qualityCONS:- needs an additional 4-6 inches of length (too short for my Golden Retriever mix)- a pain to push up/down hills more than 5-10% grade- needs hand brakes- takes several minutes to set up- some items are flimsy/difficult to manipulateTIPS:- get some rubber bands to replace the cheap plastic hooks for the pegs- keep some binder clips on hand for securing the flaps open- buy a tire pump and a bike lock to keep with your stroller- avoid the expensive padding: cut down an old bed or egg crate to fit

This is an extremely well designed, well made product and the company is wonderful to work with for customer service. We have had our jogger for a couple of weeks now, and it is perfect for our spondylosis stricken border collie (50 pounds). We use it for both jogging and walking, on paved and unpaved trails. (The latter are flat rail-to-trail type trails, not too rough.) Our dog can walk or jog for a while, and when he seems to feel uncomfortable he goes right in for a little break. After a going a bit farther, he sometimes acts like he wants to come out again, and gets another little stretch of exercise.This jogger is beautiful, strong, and easy to use. The wheels and handle pop off easily for storage in our SUV, and we could also easily break down the crate part if we wanted to put it in a smaller vehicle. We also purchased the bike kit, but have not yet used it.Customer service has been great for this product. I accidentally lost the little bolt that locks the front wheel into jogger mode and wanted to buy a new one. They graciously offered a free replacement right away. Another question I had about the alignment of the front wheel was also promptly and courteously answered.Since I would have gladly given this 10 stars instead of 5, the following negative points do not change my rating of this product at all. We looked at several other large-dog strollers and there is just no comparison for quality and features. We are so grateful that such a superior item exists in the world that I would never want to discourage the company or customers by making the following observations/suggestions. First, the instructions are somewhat vague and a YouTube video would be a great solution. Second, the reflector pieces for the back of the jogger do not have screw threads in the plastic; you have to carve them yourself with the screws using vice grips and it is NOT easy. My husband ended up taking care of that after my tools slipped while I was trying to force it and I injured my hand badly. My own fault, but I wish they would install the reflectors or send some that are easier to install. Third, I agree with others here who would like a brake on each side, but I don't feel like it's a big deal because we just wedge one foot against the second wheel and it is stable enough. But I can see how a less mobile dog would make a second brake useful. What actually bugs me is that the little red rubber cap for the brake keeps slipping off. We'll get a bit of glue on there sometime when I'm remembering it but I wish the manufacturers had done so.This really is a fantastic product. It is pricey but you get what you pay for and this thing is rock solid! Thank you Dutch Dog for making our lives better.

I try to wait before writing my reviews until I have had a chance to use the product for a while. I have only had the DoggyRide for a couple of months, but winter is approaching so it will not get much more use until spring.PROS: Quality product and workmanship, for the most part.Easy assembly.DoggyRide customer service is fantastic. A real person will answer the phone or email promptly.The dogs LOVE it!CONS: The back door.The zippers.No place to store jogging wheel or trailer tow bar when opposite is in use.No tie down rings on the floor of the cart.Let me explain my CONS. I (and the dogs) do not like the back door with the storage pocket. There is NO window, or screen of any sort in the back door so the dogs do not have a 360 view. The back door is to be used for loading and unloading - if you have water bottles, or anything else in the pocket it will likely fall out when you lift the door. Unless you take everything out of the pocket, you cannot leave the back door open for the dogs to enter and exit at will. There are no other storage pockets on the cart for putting water bottles, or anything else. If there were some storage pockets on the sides this would eliminate many of these issues, but as designed, it is a pain in the butt.The zippers do not operate smoothly, especially on the back door. It almost always requires two hands to zip. Not ideal when juggling everything and three dogs.I called customer service to ask about stowing the jogging wheel when using as a trailer and was told the idea was to use the pocket in the back door! I have not tried to force the wheel in there. To me, that is not a viable option, especially since this is the ONLY storage pocket on the cart. Likewise, if you are using the cart as a stroller, there is no designated place to store the trailer tow bar on the cart. It would seem that a way to attach these to the bottom of the cart would not have been too difficult to manufacture.There are two rings on the ceiling and one strap included. When I looked at the manual, on doggyride's website, prior to purchase - it stated there was also two tie down rings in the floor. There are no tie down rings in the floor.I should mention that I purchased the jogging stroller and then added the trailer tow kit in a separate purchase.I do like the cart, and the dogs love it. It pulls very nicely behind the trike and folds nicely for storage. I did contemplate returning it because of the CONS mentioned above but the dogs excitement in going for a ride was enough for me to keep it.

I have no clue how to put this thing together. There is no instruction for brake installation, the fabric is covering the holes where the handle is supposed to be attached. Completely defective, and I have to pay shipping to return it, so I’m now out 400 bucks. Not happy!

So I do really like the cart and I don't normally spend so much on an extra item for my dog.My dog has severe arthritis - hence the $400 cart.After using it for a few months - the zipper on the back has already broken. So on the shorter term it is a good cart - but beware of the zipper!

I just got this so I will update this down the road after we use it more but for now, me and my dog absolutely love it. Assembly - not hard, getting the crossbar up was the hardest part only because it was new, the fabric was super tight. But it was doable. The wheels were easy. The hand brake had no directions, just line up the holes and you'll figure it out on the left hand side.The stroller height for pushing - at the top notch it's perfect for me, I am 5'9" and I remember strollers that are short, such a pain. This is perfect for me and my feet don't hit the back of it at all. I could jog with it.Now for the dog, a 70 pound pit bull ... she walked alongside it for the 1.5 miles out to our levee so she was used to it, then her shoulder was aching and I opened up the back, tossed in a treat (set the brake, I wish there was one on the right side too) and she hopped right in. Popped her head out the top and we were off. I didn't need to use the cross-strap restraint but it's there and well made. She loved it. Went around the small lake and at the water fountain she got out and drank and then right back in. The return trip home was a breeze, easy to steer, push and navigate the sidewalks and dirt path too. Once we got home, I unzipped the bottom half of the screen and she just lounged in there looking out until I told her to get out. I'd say this is a huge hit and will be put to good use for those long walks. Can't wait to take it camping, it's nice that it doubles as a crate. Quite roomy.

Have just started to use this stroller and it's great!! I'm pleased I read the other reviews and replies bec it helped when I was putting the buggy together e.g someone suggested putting in the handle bar before inserting the support bar. It's very easy to negotiate on rough terrain esp with the swivel wheel - very easy to assemble and disassemble when putting in and out of the car, except I find the front bar (that holds the front wheel) sticks a little, but I'm sure that will get easier as it's inserted/removed more times. To remove it, I tip the buggy up and put my foot on the bottom bar and grab hold of the bar holding the front wheel to get it out. I find this easier than trying to get the front wheel off while the buggy is horizontal. Would be good if there was a brake on both sides - with only one brake, the buggy can do wheelies sometimes when trying to get my dog inside. I have got around that a bit by holding the right wheel with my left hand, and offering a treat from the front with my right hand (dog will do anything for treats). However, down the track if I need to use both hands to get my dog into the buggy, then I might need to use a door stopper or something similar to hold the right wheel in place. Another thing that would be good is a couple of pockets either side of the buggy for putting in leads and bits and pieces. I bought a second hand stroller that was described in "as new" condition but the brackets holding the handle bar were missing, as was the manual (didn't find out till later there was a manual and I was having to google and use youtube to work out how to put the buggy together) - it wasn't worth saving approx $30 for the hassle involved with the missing items - luckily the Doggy Ride office in the States was very helpful and posted replacement brackets straightaway by express post (to Australia) - I found a manual online and downloaded that but only found it after the buggy had been put together, but it did indicate that I had put the wheels on the wrong side so it was still useful finding the manual, albeit a bit late. Once you've assembled the buggy a couple of times, it's a real breeze. I have two dogs (one young, one old – 5 and 15 yrs) and the buggy is very handy when the older one runs out of puff. The other week (before I had the buggy) I got caught at the park when my old girl had a bit of a turn and couldn't walk - I had to ring a friend to come and mind the dogs while I went back and got the car - now that I have the buggy, if she has another turn, I can just put her into the buggy and head back to the car. She's about 30kg so too heavy for me to carry if something goes wrong. The other handy thing is, when we are at off leash areas, if there are any dogs I'm a bit worried about I can pop the older one into the buggy and zip up the ends and know she'll be ok - previously we would have just headed off quickly in another direction but as she's not able to move with any speed these days, the buggy is once again very handy for getting around a potentially tricky situation. I'm very pleased with my purchase - it would be good if the buggy was a bit longer in length for when my dog is lying down - but overall I really like it, and find it easy to use. Just one other thing to mention - I'm about 160cm (5'3") so when the handle bar is clipped in place at the lowest setting I find it a bit high, so I put the handle bar in and push down as far as it will go and don't bother pinning it in - the lower height of the handle bar suits me better. Great buggy – very pleased to have bought it, and I now feel a lot easier being out and about with my old girl knowing I have the means to get her back to the car should anything untoward happen while we're out and she can’t walk.
