Contrary to someone stating it's the same quality as a Walmart $4 bolt latch, I don't know where you got your information from. Walmart has the same item listed @ $22.29 and it's out of stock. A lot more expensive than Amazon. This is one heavy duty bolt latch that i'm going to be using on my wooden side yard gates . It's going too be teamed up with with 2 very large 8 inch sliding barrow bolts along with an oversized padlock to completely secure my snowblower which is stored directly behind the gates. I always check the specs. on items like this comparing it with other brands before purchasing the item That's one reason that i selected this particular bolt latch. The other reason is that all the holes are square punched so that you can use carriage bolts to secure it to the gates without worrying about someone using a screwdriver or wrench to remove the latch. Ditto for the barrow bolts.

This thing touts is claim to fame as it's design to accept carriage bolts. The kit came with only two carriage bolts instead of the minimum of 4 that would be essential for a secure attachment...it really needs at least 5.So I went to the hardware store, and I bought 3 more carriage bolts.SURPRISE, the loop that receives the sliding bolt is not designed to properly accept carriage bolts. The tabs with the square holes are TOO SHORT to accommodate the width of the carriage bolt head. This means you can't get the square bolt shank to seat into the square hole. Even when the nuts are fully tightened, the square shank does not seat properly in the square hole. LUDICROUS!!! I get that this is made in China, but does the US reseller not spot check its products???Great concept, but horrible design and execution. I deeply regret this purchase. I will never buy another National Hardware product.

Great quality! Strong, rugged. Gave a nice, industrial look to an exterior wood gate.

This latch is strong and well made. We received it within twenty hours after we ordered on line. Simply remarkable.

What an excellent purchase for me. I have arthritic fingers and this latch is so easy for me to use. Light weight and easy to open, as well as a good size. Actually had people say this was certainly an improvement.

This thing is a little bigger than I realized from the pictures, but it worked well for me. Used it to secure a garden gate, and it's been exposed to many rains and storms by now .. even snow. Holding up very well.

Unfortunately I could not use this but it was built well
