Works well but expensive
Works well at knocking rust off, paint also comes off pretty well, completely useless for hot rolled millscale. Not impressed for the money

Great product
Great abrasive wheel that has a decent life to them, be careful when sanding around the edges of steel plate, it will basically break the bristles off quickly. I have use those paint stripper pads that look like a Brillo pad at less of a cost but it required 3-4 of them to equal the life of this product so the higher price justifies the cost

I used this bad boy to remove melamine coating from 3/4" press board... took all of 2 seconds, crap flying everywhere, but it got the job done super fast and easy compared to 60grit sand paper on an orbital. I hope a really dirty metal job comes my way to see what this can really do.

Works quite well for removing surface rust and crud, ...
Works quite well for removing surface rust and crud, especially if you have a large, flat surface to work on. I used it on a piece of 3/8" plate and it really hugged the surface as it worked. You will have to put some pressure on it to remove mill scale on large surfaces. As others have said, be careful around edges of your work piece - if you catch the edge, the little bristles will snap off and definitely find you. Proper safety gear is not optional with this disc.

Works great, but for the price...
Works great to remove paint and most weld splatter but doesn't really cut metal. Did remove metal scale too.My brand new 4.5" grinder says 11,000rpm and these are rated for 12,000 rpm but when left to run at full speed the bristles expand and rub the guard and a few were damaged.Works great, but for the price there are cheaper alternatives.

Work great on mill scale on flat steel.
I have now used these for two weeks and they are great at removing mill scale, rust, and paint from flat metal. Like nothing else I have tried other than acid, but that is too messy. They are expensive to purchase, but if you have only flat surfaces they work faster than wire brushes or sanding discs and are cheaper in the long run. As the instructions say do not run the disc into edges as the bristles will break off and fly around. A face shield is mandatory with this disc!
