Every electronics lab needs a couple of these
After my one pair of cutters was temporarily misplaced, I ordered a second pair. I have known that I needed a backup in the tool bin for a long time. This gave me the excuse I needed to buy it. I use these constantly and was reminded how great these Xuron cutters are are when having to use some cheap diagonal cutters until the replacement arrived. These cut well and very close to the work surface. The cheap ones do not.I eventually found the older one. You can see from the photo how much use it has received over the years. It's still in great shape. The cutting edge remains in perfect shape. These are very durable cutters. The one on the right has been used regularly for over a decade.

Perfect flush sprue cutter ~
For those interested in modeling, this is a great sprue cutter (sprues are the plastic runners that hold the pieces). It hits very flush and even. The blades are slightly angled for easier cutting of thin areas. There is a spring which helps push the cutter to the open position. It can be removed, though I like leaving it in. I rarely need filing when using this cutter, sometimes a just need to shave an area with a #2 Xacto knife to remove any remaining ridge.Works wonderfully. No sense in spending $20+shipping for the 'dedicated' sprue cutters which are very similar to this. Thinking of the Tamiya cutters specifically. But this hits perfectly flush, so if you get this model number (be careful there are a few with just a couple of letters different that aren't flush but look the same - check the Xuron site for more information) and it doesn't cut flush, there is a defect and you should exchange it.I wouldn't cut anything too heavy duty with this pair. I would think small wires and copper would be okay, but anything tougher than a sprue or a thin copper wire would probably warp the cutter. I am thinking the handle is the main reason, doesn't seem to have enough durability and pressure for bigger cuts. The description says soft wire up to 0.8 mm (20 AWG). I would recommend not testing these limits too closely though.+ Pros: comfortable, good grip, angled blades, spring, good screw hinge, perfectly flush cut, price- Cons: not suitable for heavier gauge wires, handles cheap plastic

Vary excellent quality
Love the precision when working with fine wire.

Works Perfectly
This flush cutter works as designed. It was designed for *thin* electrical component wire leads, not electrical cords or guitar strings. A tool is only as good as the care it is given by its owner.

Better than my cheap flush cutters
The Xuron Micro-Shear flush cutters are a game-changer for precision work. They provide clean, accurate cuts with minimal effort, making them perfect for detailed projects. Highly recommend these for any hobbyist or professional looking for reliable and precise cutters.

Works, inexpensive
This is a review of Xuron wire-cutter/flush-cutter.This is a heavily cloned tool and lots of low-quality knock-offs are given away with electronic starter kits.Out of the box, it's everything I expect. Versus the Knipex snips that I have always used, there's very little difference in functionality. The Knipex handles are a bit more comfortable and the springs are more robust, but at three times the price (approximately $24 vs $8), it's not an easy justification unless you are using them for hours during the day.The hardness of the metal is fine. I'm cutting only copper wire from 22 to 18 gauge but no issues. I believe that I'd dinged my Knipex snips cutting some steek art and craft wire. If these don't hold up, I'll update the review. All said, I'm satisfied with these snips. They work and are inexpensive.

My go-to pair of cutters
Background: I am a jewelry professional and use this product accordingly. For the price, you cannot beat Xurons so long as you are using them as intended. They are simply not intended to cut metal larger than 18 gauge. You can do it if you really wanted. I've done it with 16 AWG aluminum. But please note if you do, try to use the base of the jaws as you will run a very strong change of snapping one of the tips (something I also did), a feat which could prove to be quite hazardous to your eye health. The use: These cutters are best used on softer metals like aluminum, silver and copper. They do NOT work well on ferrous metals or reactive metals, though you could possibly push your luck and try for a smallish gauge niobium (perhaps 20 gauge and up?) and be okay. The cut: I can best describe this cut to be a mixture of flush and pinch. If you are cutting wire, this should be exactly what you need without having to bother with a jeweler's saw. If you are cutting jump rings, expect one side to be a decent flush cut (that may need just a little filing) and the other side to be a more v-shaped pinch (where the wire ends would look like |< or sometimes a shear cut with just a touch of pinch on one side (where it would like like |\ ).The tips are tiny enough to enable you to cut in very tight places but I found that sometimes they would start to cut a particularly difficult to reach wire, only to slip off having only cut halfway through. This could also just be the angle I was working at.The grip: I am a smallish female (5'4", small-medium build) but I admit I find the grips to be a little awkward. I am accustomed to using Linstrom ergonomic pliers and thus find the handles on the Xurons to be a little thin at the ends for long-term use comfort. Other than this very minor issue, they are a comfortable tool to use.Overall a wonderful set of flush cutters at a price that can't be replicated. Highly recommend for its intended purpose.

My Favorite Brand!
I'm a wire wrap jewelry artist and have been for 10 years.... Xuron is the BEST brand for the money out there! Do I wish I could afford the $100+ brand??? Of course I do! But these are my "go to" for the price!I'm brutal on my tools and all my Xuron cutters and pliers withstand a beating! I'll never use any other brands (unless someone buys me the super expensive ones as a gift!)
