Quick Review and A Tip For "Bricked" Lenses
REVIEWNot too much to say, as it's a very simple, straightforward product. Works exactly the same as the Sigma Lens Dock. The lens clicks in just like it does on the camera body. You can update firmware with it on all compatible lenses, along with autofocus fine tuning if your lens is slightly front/back focusing, and manual focus ring speed. Some lenses with custom switches or buttons allow you to modify those as well. Some newer lenses even allow autofocus fine tuning at multiple distances, exceeding most DSLRs, and matching what Sigma has available for their lenses. In general, this usually isn't needed on mirrorless, though, as mirrorless does not have the same kind of focus issues DSLRs had. Something to note is that some lenses do come autofocus tuned from the factory, not always perfectly. My 18/2.8 was set at -2 from the factory, but is sharper under the focus point when zeroed out. My 35/2.8 was at -3, but seems to focus fine like that. The matching software, Samyang Lens Manager, has a clean and simple layout that's easy to use, and only lags right in the beginning when connecting a lens. Otherwise, no complaints. Here's how to use it:FIRMWARE UIPDATE PROCEDURE1. Attach the Lens Station to USB, then to the lens2. Open the Lens Manager software3. Click the Lens Conn. button on the rightThe Lens Station will connect to the Lens Manager software. Usually, the software will identify if your firmware is out of date and simplify the update process to a series of OK buttons. But if it doesn't, here are the next steps:4. Click the Firmware Update icon5. Click on Download Link on the bottom6. Find your lens' firmware and download it, remembering the filename and location7. Click on Load Lens F/W File, find the firmware you just downloaded and open it8. Click on Update and follow the on-screen promptsAnd you're done! It'll take a little while to upload the firmware file, but you'll be notified when it's done. Finally, go back to Lens Connection icon and press the Disconnect button to disconnect the lens. You can attach another lens at this point and update its firmware starting with step 3, or close the software.BRICKED LENSESWhat sometimes happens is, while writing the firmware to the lens, the software or your computer's hardware will drop the connection. When this happens, the new firmware isn't completely written, and the lens won't work properly or at all when attached the camera. Most of the time, the lens will not reconnect to the software, either. Bricked! But don't panic!>>>>>>>>>>>>> THE SOLUTION (for 95% of cases, at least...) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Seems like Samyang knew this might occur, so they allow you to update a lens' firmware without the software knowing what specific lens is attached. Do the normal steps 1 and 2 to attach the lens and start the software. But skip step 3. Instead, continue with step 4 through 8. The software should allow you to upload the firmware to the lens in a normal fashion despite not knowing which lens it is. This should return your lens to normal, along with upgrading the firmware at the same time.IMPORTANT: make sure you choose the right firmware from Samyang's Firmware download page. It's probably not terrible if you load the wrong one into the lens, as things seem recoverable even if incomplete/damaged firmware is present, but why take a chance.Hope this helps!

Make sure you do things in order!
I bought this lens station out of necessity since I have a couple of Rokinon lenses. It does its job well, but you might have some trouble with it when you first start until you get used to it.Here’s what I mean: there’s a green light at the bottom that turns on when the lens is successfully connected to the computer. However, the software that goes with the station isn’t exactly the most intuitive (and I’m a software professional). If you’re using a Mac like I was, you’ll notice that when you put your lens into the station and the station is plugged in, the light doesn’t turn on. That’s because you’re not finished yet. If you click the connect button in the software, nothing happens—you’ll get a message stating to place your lens in the station. That’s because you have to manually choose the device on the computer you’re plugged into (in this case, USB, even though it appears to be chosen already—that was my hangup), then you should be able to connect and do what you need to do.After that, download the firmware you need (then flash it to the lens) or make any changes to the function buttons and autofocus sensitivity, and you should be good to go.Ultimately, I hope Samyang starts to build a USB connection into their lenses like Viltrox does or allow you to update the lens via the camera like Sony does, but until then, you’ll have to go this route. It’s not very expensive, but it is a little bit of a nuisance.

Direct updating of firmware and settings
Simple way to update firmware and custom settings on your X-mount Samyang or Rokinon lenses.

Proprietary but works
No one really wants to buy something extra, that’s proprietary, that makes your lens functional. But here we are you and me. Buying it anyway. It works as intended. Interesting idea, weird execution.

Easy to update lens settings with
The media could not be loaded. This works as advertised, you click your lens in, open up the Sam Yang software, and you can adjust all your lens parameters and update the firmware really easily

Adorama can’t do anything to help. Psshhhh product caused problem
I bought the lens manager to update the firmware for my Samyang 24mm. I finally received product and went straight to computer to hook up the lens manager and update the firmware to my lens. The picture icon for my lens came up with the firmware saftware and then it disappeared as I was updating. So, it seem like there was a lost connection. Since it didn’t complete, it messed up my autofocus (green boxes) and I could no longer take a picture.I called the number associated in my Amazon app.. the representative said I can try and send my lens back to Rokinon so they can fix it. If they can’t help you out, then call us back and we could do something to help out.I sent lens to manufacturer and they tell me they can’t fix. It’s best to just buy a replacement lens for $....discounted price. I call Adorama about this and explained to them that they can’t fix my lens and I would have to pay again for a replacement. I don’t think this is right considering my lens was fine before I bought lens manager. After a whole hour talking to Adorama they can’t help me out with anything. I asked them “so you are telling me you guys are ok with providing a product that could pitentiallly ruin a $2000 lens?” Yes, I know my Samyang isn’t 2grand but the fact they said “sorry we can’t do anything” just ticked me off. I told them if I were to buy the replacement lens, I would still have to purchase the lens manager to update the firmware Is there any way you could compensate me for the $70 lens manager at least?” They said no. They already refunded my money for the lens manager. So nothing got resolved. The loser here is this guy because I basically paid for 2 lens because I needed to update the firmware from 2 to 5. Thanks a lot Adorama for the faulty lens manager.

Works fine.
My lens was already rhe latest version so I didn't need to update it. That being said, I downloaded the lens program and checked anyway. I will be buying more samyang lenses so I'm going to need it eventually.
