I first read this book about 10 or so years ago. It was wonderful, engaging and a "great read". When finished I put it on the bookshelf to save for another day. Re-read it about a month ago and it is just as good a second time around. You don't need to be a sailor to really enjoy learning how the American navy came to be, complete with blunders, mixed emotions, and strokes of genius.
