This is the calorie book the Nurses at the doctors' office tell you to buy
One of the many best parts about this book is the photos of the food. Makes it easy to find the calorie listing. The other is there is an app that matches it on Google Play. It is a small book. But you can get it in large print which is a bit larger book. It also lists brand name foods. The book gets updated often. Unless you are looking up a lot of pre made processed grocery store food, and older copy works just fine.

Huge amount of info in Small package!
This book was recommended to me by the NP at my physician's office as a great way to calculate carbs. She was exactly right! Great information is packed into this small and easy to carry with you book. It gives clear information and guides to their abbreviations in order for you to make a selection of foods and know what you are going to need to calculate or count. Personally, I am diabetic and count the carbs to find the correct amount of insulin to give for each meal- this book helps me with the accuracy I need to keep my bloodsugars in range. I would recommend it to anyone who wants or needs to know calories, nutrition info and/or carbohydrates they are ingesting. Great value in my opinion.

Really Great Information on staying Healthy in a very small book
I really love this book. Pretty much everything I need to know about eating right and watching calories. sodium, fat, cholesterol and etc. Plus there's also a website with even more information. I will use this book forever. I even bought a few more for family and friends and they love it too. If your struggling to lose weight or have any kind of health issue that needs to be controlled; this is the book you need. Plus it's uncomplicated and you can come up with your own eating plan easily without spending hours in the store and kitchen buying a million things that takes hours to prepare. My motto is "Keep it Simple" when it comes to preparing and eating food.

CalorieKing 2011
We purchased this book on the recommendation from our dietician. My husband has pre-diabetes numbers and we are now watching calories, fat and carbohydrate count more carefully. This book is a small, yet handy size. It tracks the numbers for many, many fast-food and chain restaurants. It's laid out nicely, but sometimes it's hard to find odd items (like coffees, teas, specialty drinks). You can easily slip this into a purse for discreet browsing before you order from a restaurant menu. You might change your mind when you see what that potatoskin appetizer from Ruby Tuesday's will do to your daily calorie count. Yikes.

A must for anyone with Juvenile Diabetes
This book has become a daily handbook since my son was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes 2 1/2 months ago. We were given the 2007 edition in the hospital and I just picked up two of the 2010 edition. My only criticism is the fiber isn't listed so I can't figure net carbs with it. What makes it so much better than other books is that it lists a lot of foods in a variety of manners, such as 1/2 cup, 2 oz, raw cooked, etc. Another book I picked up (The Complete and Up-to-Date Carb Book: A Guide to Carb, Calorie, Fiber, and Sugar Content) only lists say 1/2 cup. Well, measuring certain foods, like mashed sweet potatoes and pasta, by volume can be way off depending on the amount of air whipped into them or the amount of water they soaked up. The size of the book is also a big plus. Since we already have to carry around a testing kit, insulin, med supplies, juice, and snacks, I appreciate that this book is small. As far as the fiber problem, I have just penciled in the fiber of the fruits and veggies he commonly eats. This is by far the most superior book of it's kind on the market.

Wonderful Information; a MUST!
Had the 2006 version of this book and this 2011 version is also absolutely great! I love the fact that I can refer to this as a fat gram and calorie counter. You can also count Carbs, but I am just not into the carb counting thing...yet. I initally purchased it for my husband who is diabetic and needs to monitor his daily food intake, but I think that i will keep it for me and just have him ask me about the foods that he eats; anyway, he probably won't use it that much anyway.

better resource
I've been using a large paperback nutrition book when our Type 1 granddaughter is with us. It had waay too many listings of commercial products. At the Diabetic Youth Foundation camp a nutritionist recommended this book. It is small enough to take in my purse and has color print on all pages. It is categorized by food type rather than alphabetically, so while this takes getting used to, it helps by showing alternative foods if it doesn't have the specific one you are looking for.
