Blackstar Studio 20 Guitar Amp Head w/Reverb

The media could not be loaded.  The amp is crackling horribly. Four times last night. Power down, wait a few seconds, power up and it works for 5-10 minutes before the crackling starts again. This amp has been used gently at home. Made in China.

This is a great tube amp for the price. When I want to make it sound really sweet, I run my guitar through an Art StudioV3 preamp first. The clean tones are amazing, especially with the excellent built-in reverb. The high gain tones are so-so, but I'm using this more for classic rock and blues. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of distortion available without needing any fx pedals. I'm using a Marshall JCM 900 Lead-1960 cabinet and because of that, I do have to dial down the bass a little or it rattles everything in the house.The ability to toggle between 2w and 20w is very nice. I can put the amp in 2w mode, switch to the clean channel with the master volume rather low, and crank the clean channel volume to 10 for an amazing tube crunch sound. AC/DC songs sound perfect with that sound imo. For some killer Southern Rock tones, use the clean channel's alternate voice (switchable) with volume around 5-8. I'd swear I was listening to a Lynnard Skynnard album.Anyways, this won't compare to a Fuchs or other high-end boutique amps and you will probably want a different head for playing modern metal, but still it is a real fun amp to play on.Btw, I don't use the cab simulator because it sounded like total crap to me.

Many sweet spots to be had . From the ISF knob ( US sound to the UK tone ) and every thing in between! I find the Cab I have that’sLoaded with celestion 30v speakers loves this amp head . Seems to cover everything from hard rock to Metal. To sum it up , every thing I have heard about it , including the cleans , Is true . The amp head has a 2 watt channel as well and it’s surprisingly loud.

Power and versatile, what an amp. So glad I bought separates. Using with 2x12" blackstar cab and it's absolutely amazing! Attached a volume pedal, so amp cam be turned up, while playing at lower volume.
