Muscle Memory!
My mother always hated when I practiced fingering exercises on the piano. I loved them and I love these. They are peaceful and relaxing--and by playing the exercises I am helping my fingers remember the fingering patterns common to each scale. I also find the repetition helpful as breathing a exercise--for the musician in me and for my elderly lungs.

This is exactly what I was hoping it would be.
A great little book to help me work on my scales and fingerings that has fun, short songs sprinkled in to keep it from being just a boring book of scales.

Small format
The book is smaller that I thought. But it does have good exercised of scales and intervals. This should work if the students practice.

SMFH - The photocopier needs new glasses.
Like the title says. The pages in this booklet are akin in quality to 50% reduced 3rd generation thermal photocopies of 7th generation mimeographed copies of handwritten scores. The bits that I can read seem ok, I guess?

Best, most fun exercises I've ever done - this book is a BARGAIN!
I bought this after learning to play the soprano and tenor recorders for about 1.5 years. This book is fantastic! There is a progression of exercises, in different keys, and every one of them is interesting and fun. Interspersed with the exercises are Baroque pieces, such as by Bach. You will not find a better exercise book anywhere, especially for this ridiculously low price. One word of caution - the paper version of the book is small - probably around 6 inches by 9 inches. But I have bad eyes and have had no trouble reading/playing. I think you'll need to play something else for your first few months playing recorder, but then you'll be able to pick this up and start right in on it. It's worth the cost, even if it was three times more!

Most practical and useful book for recorder practice ever.
This awesome little book has taken my techniques to new levels. It's layout of interval scales interspersed with dance music and well known classical pieces keeps practices fun. I highly recommend this to anyone who already knows how to play but wants to play well.

I love this book
I love this book. If you're trying to get better at the recorder beyond what you were taught in elementary school, this is a must have book. This isn't for the fresh beginner, rather for the learner who's ready to take that next step. The first part of the book is all scales and intervals. But interspersed between the exercises are songs by composers you've heard of. I cannot say enough good things about this book. I just want to emphasize, this is a book of exercises. There is no fingering chart. This is not a method book. This is for someone who knows the basics and wants to go to the next level. You will need to learn that second octave though.

Don't neglect the exercises!
This is a very good set of short pieces, interspersed with exercises. There is nothing wrong with just playing the tunes - there are many of them - and some of them are trickier, but it is also worth tackling the exercises, as mastering or attempting to master these will make it easier to play new pieces in the future. Most people will probably only want this set, but players of recorders in F (alto, sopranino - possibly also bass) should also buy the similar book for instruments in F. The pieces and exercises are pretty much the same in each book, but adapted for the individual instruments.Players will probably discover that the intricacies are not only due to fingering, but getting the right wind pressure to be able to hit each note accurately, and also to modify the tuning of the instrument dynamically while playing. Some players may play on different versions of recorders even nominally of the same type and pitch, and may need to modify the fingering and air flow for each individual instrument to get the best effects. It's an occupational hazard! These are an excellent and cheap resource, which will improve a player's approach to playing pieces at speed. However, other aspects shouldn't be neglected, such as slow playing, tone production etc. These books will be less useful for those aspects of playing recorders. These pieces and exercises will help a lot.

95 Dexterity Exercises for recorder
This is a small book of sheet music with no accompanying CD or downloadable music. I have both the version for C recorders (descant and tenor) and F recorders (Alto/Treble). They are essentially scale exercises with exercises in thirds/fourths etc. They are great for warm ups and have some very nice pieces mixed in (Handel, Telemann and Bach for example). The pieces are the same (for C and F recorders) just transposed for the relevant instrument. They are extremely useful for people beyond beginners to reinforce scales and fingerings generally. Perhaps less useful for outright beginners and the very experienced player.

Great little book
I love this: it's compact and stuffed full of useful exercises, along with some nice little pieces to build on the exercises. Play a couple of pages of intervals, then a Bach minuet. What could be better? It's great that it's available for both C and F instruments, too.

Motivating
These exercises are both stimulating and productive. I find that I am competing with myself for a flawless performance and do not find them monotonous. The skills of sight reading and dexterity also transfer to my other practice.

Useful and a Pleasure to Use
Does what it says in the title - exercises that are really good for dexterity. Very good for sight reading practice too. Includes lots of old folk tunes which put into practice the particular exercises from that section. I also have the book for F recorders.
