This wonderful film has a lot of humor, clever, witty lines, a deeply felt love story, and a stellar cast. I was confused by the 13+ rating of "violence and alcohol use"...until I realized that rating accounted for a SNOWBALL FIGHT (in which no one got hurt) as the "violence" and a magically filled bottle of sherry sipped by an older gentleman on the occasion of a holiday. Please don't deprive your younger children of watching this marvelous movie because of an over-zealous rating like that. It's one of the best, most moving Christmas films ever. The musical score, including a tear-evoking performance by the Mitchell Boy's Choir, is memorable and tender. The ice skating scene is funny, the character actors are terrific. This is a must-watch movie that features the luminous Loretta Young and two male leads who act as perfect foils for each other. Don't miss this!

This is a wonderful movie. It might be my favorite Cary Grant movie of all.I call it a "Christmas Movie" because I watch it every Christmas season, but it's a great movie to watch anytime. The acting is, obviously, great. I especially love the scenery with it set in the late 40's.I fully agree with previous reviewers who question the 13+ rating for "Violence & Alcohol Use". Yes, there is a benign scene with social drinking, but nothing outrageous. Violence? Where in this movie is there any violence? The snowball fight? I guess some kids having a snowball fight is now considered violent. Unbelievable!Definitely check this movie out if you like classic movies that have a wholesome message and great acting.

I love this movie, now I have it in my collection,, so I can watch whenever I want. Cary Grant is just a good actor and Loretta Young, in this movie, is superb at her part. All in all it's a good family movie, one that needs to be shown so the whole world could see. in The ordering of : it is packaged well, priced good, shipped timely arrived when they said it would, and in good condition , I am very pleased😊

A precious, beautiful story of God working in people’s lives by way of an Angel sent to straighten out an ambitious bishop. The wife and daughter yearn for the days when the bishop was more accessible and present in their lives. Cary Grant and David Niven shine in their “combat” with one another. Hilarious scenes of the two interacting are priceless . Loretta Young is perfect as the patient, loving wife. A must see.

This movie”s story is a sweet, kind and uplifting one. I enjoyed it very much. It’s certainly a welcomed change in the bulk of the movies presented for todays audiences. No violence. No cursing. No perversion of any sort. Before you think me prudish, I should let you know that I enjoy a great variety of todays entertaining movies, but sometimes it’s good to just sit back and just savor something that I would be happy to share with adults AND children. These films are a rare reprieve from the impact of the “anything goes” mentality of the decision-makers of what passes as a film, that is meant to engage and occupy the mind.Sometimes we just need a holiday from the unkind realities that are a part of our modern world.One piece of practical advice to Amazon; this dvd and so many others I’ve purchased recently arrive with the container (that is meant to cover and store the disc for its lifetime) reach my home in pieces. Please take some care to remedy the problem. This particular disc seems to be unharmed but with just a bit more padding in the package would make a real impact on the quality of the entire article.Once again, this is a great movie for everyone to enjoy!

If you liked the Preacher's wife, you'll love this one too. Same story made many decades apart. Love Cary Grant.

Bought this dvd to replace a VHS version of the same movie. This is a classic movie which I like to watch around the Christmas holidays.

Some people can bring out the best in you.

There are those who,think James Stewart is the finest actor of all time. Others say it's spencer Tracy. Both are consummate actors. For me it's Cary Grant. No he wasn't the most gifted acor. However he was the most natural. More than that he could improvise like no other actor has ever done or will do.Take a look at the awful truth. It's. Totally unscripted. Grant leads the way and Irene Dunn and Ralph Bellamy follow suit.In this movie Cary plays an angel. A naughty Angel. Perfect for Cary. He's absolutely stunning In this movie. However he is equalled by David Niven. One of the greatest expression actors of all time. Each actor has their own skill. Nivens was expression. He was way beyond anyone else and then we have Loretta Young. What is to say about this legend, it speaks for itselfThe bishops wife is sublimeDudley is the epitome of humanity with all its weaknesses.If only the world was like Dudley

I purchased this movie as a result of a comment made by a broadcaster on Londons LBC radio station. I have never heard or seen this film before but this guys judgement has always been good. People rave about Its a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart being the perfect Christmas movie but I cannot understand why. Its OK but not that good. I much preferred this movie. It was moving and funny in fact it was just a 'Perfect Christmas Movie'

This was advertised as colour which it is not. The film as we all know is fabulous though but I already have the black and white version. The company were great when we complained and refunded our money in full. Hopefully the ad would have been amended by now.

A solid blu ray transfer of a classic movie that is not as well known as it deserves. An outstanding film with splendid performances and some wonderful moments that is both perfect seasonal fare and very enjoyable.
