RTG Supreme Beach Scoop # 550

Great treasure / beach scoop. Great quality, handle has stayed on without spinning after months of heavy use. The locking spring peg on the adjustable handle shank works well and has yet to stick. I use it for reaching into water to retrieve items, rocks, trash, ect. Or I use them on the beach to dig while playing with the metal detector.This is a repurchase, my original scoop I gave to a young lady who was helping pickup trash at the local National Wildlife Refuge on our cleanup day. I offered it to her to use to pick trash up, she had given it to an adult she thought was with our group. Long and short, sje and her parents went to the neighboring park and found my scoop. When we met up, I thanked her for her effort searching it down and for her help with the cleanup day. I then offered it to her of she promised to always enjoy it

I ordered this scoop I could break it down for my suitcase for my vacation. And if fit good in my suitcase! It got here 5 days after I order it. And I placed the order on midday Thursday. And I sent a email to the seller letting him know that I needed it before the day I was going on my trip. And if I had to pay more I would. Because Amazon had the last date for the scoop to get to me was on the day I was leaving. And the seller told me not to worry that it would be here before I would leave. It was so thanks to the seller.I took it out to some local beaches and it worked fine. Only couples improvements that I will be making too it is making a cross bar going from the handle to the back of the basket. Too give it more strength so it don't bend. also I'll paint it with special paint to prevent it from rusting.Thanks to the seller

UPDATE from 2014 = 2023 - Still awesome !Works good, i use in wet and dry. Just wash when done. The basket so far is pretty sturdy. I got it because you can break it down for travel. The only thing I would say is the whole handle is a bit loose. When you hook together the pieces there is a bit of a gap. So when you move the scoop there is slight wiggling room. But not enough for me to be upset about. I would recommend it for the ladies (myself) because it is VERY light weight. Unlike the others I have tried that were to heavy.

Unfortunately, I was hoping this sand shovel would be great at the beach. I took it out today for the very first time in the dry sand. When I started pushing it into the sand the shovel started bending. This shovel will not last long, which sucks because I like how you can break it down.

Best bang for the buck. I am rather new to metal detecting and didn't have a lot of money to spend but wanted to buy something of decent quality to complement my mid-level metal detector. Positives: low weight for a metal shaft scoop; scale-able to accommodate people of different heights; the grid wire bottom allows for lots of sand to fall out quickly and easily while shaking to discover what you've dug up; easy to use and clean; Very durable and well constructed. Negative: Always wash, dry, and store in a dry location away from moisture as this thing will rust very quickly if left in a humid area like I did. I know better now and for the cost savings it is a minor price to pay.

This scooper worked great in the soft sand! It is very sturdy. I sprayed mine down with some Rustoleum to prevent it from rusting. People who were metal detecting on the beach without a scooper would ask me where I got mine from and those that did have a scooper liked mine better than the ones they had (They payed more for theirs too). Trust me when I say this scooper makes metal detecting on the beach much more enjoyable!

I bought this scoop a week ago and everything is fine with one exception. It does not do well with heavy wet sand. As you can see from the photo, there is no bottom support bracket. So when you get into wet sand, all that leverage from the long handle will bend the basket where the handle is welded to the basket.It is only a matter of time before it breaks the weld completely.If they could alter the design with a cross support from the handle to basket it would be an amazing sand scoop.

Sturdy pole and basket! Works great, keeping my arms out of the water and rinses the sand away easily !Would buy again, and great price!M 😀
