The last Alex Ryder book?
This seems to be the end of the series with lots of action and adventure as Alex is part of a Scorpia plot to assinate a high American official. But is it the end of the series?Maybe not !

"...the most emotional and out right shocking in the series."
Alex Rider is out of the spy world, for the last four months he has been doing nothing but what any other fifteen year old would be doing: going to school, hanging out with friends, playing sports. But there is one enemy that just wont stop. Scorpia.Alex has defeated them twice, which is bad for their reputation, but now a plan has come along for them to make forty million dollars and get their revenge, in effect taking them back to the top, restoring their reputation. And this plan has everything to do with Alex Rider dying. If you are like me you will not be able to put this heart stopping, adrenaline rushing ninth novel down!!MI6 once again drags Alex Rider out of his ordinary life, and back into the spy world after info comes along that creates a mission he is just suited for in Cario. Sending him off to Cario though this time he is not alone as Jack Starbright, his house keeper/best friend, and Mr Smithers, the gadget master comes with him. That in it self ups this novel. How the two character are incorporated when we have Alex in the middle of action. As we usually only see them after and before his missions. And like all the missions that MI6 has sent him on it is supposed to be easy and not dangerous at all. Alex should have known better. One thing they didn't tell him, was that Scorpia is at the center of it.The author has really out done himself this time in sending Scorpia to the Middle East with a plan that has Alex once again in the middle. But this time it is different, the series is at an end, and Alex wont be going back home this time.In this book, Alex Rider's mission: to stop Scorpia, once and for all. This book was by far the most emotional and out right shocking in the series. Especially what we learn about the head man at the MI6, Mr. Blunt. I have never really liked him, but never could have foreseen what we learn in this novel. This was the most amazing book, by far my favorite in the Alex Rider!! It was just shock after shock, I was never off the edge of my seat trying to anticipate what would happen next. Major suspense, action-adventure and even if we didn't know for sure that this was going to be the last book in the series you could tell by reading it, the whole book rings of finality. If there is one problem I have with the book it was that, there will not be anymore Alex Rider books which makes me want to cry but at the same time happy.Again for those of you who trust my opinion, read this series. It has never let me down!

It was absolutely epic, but......
**SPOILER WARNING~ENTER AT OWN RISK**This book was absolutely epic, one of the best ones in the series! People say it was unoriginal, I disagree. It was different than the others because the mission was a fake and that made a good change. The only truly unoriginal part of it was the beginning. I have read that same beginning in countless fanfics and even written it myself. Jack's death was predictable. I've been waiting for her to die for quite a few books. She lived way too long. Smithers' secret was an absolute shock! I never guessed it until about a page before it happened! And Blunt......well, that just confirmed how evil he was!I found one problem with the book though. Horowitz said in an interview that Alex's fate would be worse than death and he said in his blog that we would know, when we reached the end, that it would be the last Alex Rider book ever. But what happened to Alex wasn't really worse than death. Remember how Mr. Pleasure said Alex was healing? That doesn't signify worse than death. And us knowing it was the last Alex Rider book ever? I could see it going on. I could see the CIA knocking on his door and asking him to go on a mission. If Horowitz wanted to ensure Alex could never spy again, Alex should have gone insane or gotten brain damage or something that would make it so he couldn't function in society and certainly could not spy anymore. All of those are worse than death in my eyes. Truth be told, it was kind of disappointing. I spent the last couple of months guessing what would happen to him in the end, what would happen that would be worse than death and how it would be impossible for him to spy again. I spent the day it came out literally screaming I needed that book and waiting for my dad to get home with the mail. I read it in about 3 hours, desperate to get to the end. And I was disappointed. All that waiting, all that guessing, all that worrying, and it just wasn't as good as it should have been. I expected something more. Something bigger. I actually dreamed about a week before Scorpia Rising came out that I read the book and the ending was disappointing. I told myself that could never happen and look what happened! The ending was just as disappointing as it was in my dream. So yer, epic book, but the end was sort of a disappointment. Read it anyway though! No really, do NOT let this review discourage you! The rest of the book was absolutely epic!

Scorpia disbanded
Noticeably fatter than the previous Alex Rider novels, the last in the series is perhaps a little more indulgent too. We don't encounter our hero until almost a quarter of the way through the story, and there is an awful lot of detail put into the descriptions of the Scorpia plot and the various villains employed to carry it through. This said, once the story gets going it flies, and the unmistakable Bondian tropes are all present and correct. Without venturing into 'spoilers' territory, it's fair to say that Alex's final mission will leave more devastating emotional scars than ever before, as well as delivering a delicious villain and at least one surprising treat for those who have followed the series since its inception. Good stuff.

Anthony Horowitz at his best.
This Is my 3rd favourite book in the alex rider series. Its fast paced with twists and turns. Due to the new books it left some plot holes. like the prison in gebralt being shut down. I have grown up with the Rider books and am now in my 30s I can't wait for Alex's next adventure.

Enjoyable end to the series
I got this on kindle, having read the series of books with my son now 14. I read it quickly and enjoyed it, I wondered if the character from a previous book had been kept alive for a purpose and it was fun to see him resurface. My son has dyslexia and got through the book in record time by listening to it on the Kindle, once you get the hang of the lack of appropriate pauses and inability to recognise initials on the Kindle speech format.Look forward to the last power of 5 book now.

The pace & energy is still there, this series of books continues to be enjoyable
One of my favourite authors, enjoy all his books, adult and YA. The Alex Rider series are fun books, well written, inventive plots and good characters. Well worth a read.

Bittersweet ending
A great ending to the great adventure of Alex Rider. I had ordered this book along with Snakehead and Crocodile Tears and I can say that this one was the best of the three. Perhaps it was because of the ending or the fact that this was the final chapter in the Alex Rider series but nonetheless it was very bit as satisfying if not more so than the other books.
