Almost impossible to put down
I picked this book up in a bookstore and started reading and quickly found myself unable to put it down. Based on the graphics I thought it would be for kids but the content is really for anyone still learning tactics (under 1800 USCF). There are many books on tactics but what really stands out in this book are the great little tips that come with each section. These tips are very eye opening and have changed my general approach at the board when dealing with tactics. There's also 58 puzzles at the end which is never a bad thing. For the price and the advice I highly recommend this book.

Great Book For Anyone Playing Chess
What an instructive, easy to understand and fun book to read. The illustrations are slick, too. Very basic, but that's where I an right now...maybe always will be.

Sparked My passion for chess. Excellent layout of the tactics. .
But the play by play was worth the purchase. Highly recommend this book for those getting back to the game.If your looking for pattern recognition skills this is the way.

Excellent, interesting, and worthwhile
An excellent complement to the "Checkmate: my first chess book", from of the all-time great Russian chessmasters, more detailed on tactics as the title suggests. Fast delivery and great price.

Great visual book by Gary Kasparov teaches tactics to beginning to intermediate players
This beginner to intermediate level book uses clear diagrams and 3-D visual illustrations of tactics / patterns that may be used to attack or weaken the opponent. Some examples are forks, pins, discovered checks and then moving to more complex attacks. I enjoyed this book and have given it to my students ( 10-12 years ) who have several years of play and wish to build their skills. The book uses algebraic notation, the text is clear and straightforward, made easier with the frequent diagrams and 3-D illustrations. There are also 58 puzzles with solutions. Did I also mention that it is written by Gary Kasparov? A great book, in my opinion.
