A god basic telescope
My wife and I always wanted a telescope for our home. I ended up buying her this one, she got me an expensive one for Christmas. LOL. This one is much easier to use than our more powerful telescope, and we find ourselves only using this one and leaving the expensive one by the window as a "fancy home display piece".

Fell apart
Update: I would not recommend this telescope. After 2 months, with light use and parental supervision, the eye piece to the Lens won’t stay in- the screw is stripped somehow. Not sure if it came like this. Also, the magnification is equivalent of binoculars, it would seem.Do not buy!We purchased a pre owned one for my son’s 9th birthday. All pieces are in tact and look like new. It was easy enough for my 9 year old to set up himself.

No instruction manual
Since there was no instruction manual, I’m not sure if I have the correct parts or if I’m missing something. I have parts that I have no idea what their purpose is. Since it’s a birthday gift I won’t return it because I don’t have time. Rather disappointing. I would be happy to change rating if provided a user manual.Update: a user manual was sent about a month and a half later. I’m bumping rating up from 2 to 3 stars as a courtesy. If I can finally successfully see something I will bump it up even higher. Hopefully I have all parts, haven’t done an inventory based on the manual yet as I just received it today.

Great Telescope for Beginner
This is a great telescope for someone who is just starting out. It provides you with everything you need to start studying the stars! I gave this as a birthday gift. Delivery was great. It was easy to put together. My 11 year old daughter did it by herself! You can use it for both day and night viewing. The backpack is really convenient to use when camping, etc. Good deal for the price!

Save your money for a higher quality telescope.
I geek out over space and wanted to share my hobby with my daughter. This arrived just in time to show her Jupiter and its moons... WHAT A FREAKING LET DOWN.The instructions are crap but somehow I managed to figure them out, not that it did much because the scope is impossible to focus. It's basically made out of cheap plastic and tempered glass (IF that) and you're better off using a dollar store kaleidoscope.I regret not going for the name brand instead of buying this junk!

Generic piece of junk
Ordered this, received it, opened it up, and was stunned at how generic it was. This is either just a private/white label version of the 70mm Celestron Travel Scope you can find almost anywhere, for probably cheaper, than this one...or it's a shameless knock off. I'm not sure which. The eyepieces certainly are of lower quality.Note that for stargazing, even in the best case this scope or its superior brethren are better suited for terrestrial viewing (i.e., looking at stuff on the ground during the day). The cheap tripods aren't steady enough for much else. They are kinda-sorta OK for beginner stargazing, but the junky eyepieces packed with this one make it fail that purpose.Get the Celestron if you want effectively the same (possibly better) scope but with better eyepieces and probably cheaper price. If you want to stargaze, at this level you're much better off with a Dobsonian-style telescope, like the Meade LightBridge Mini series.
