A great collection of interviews with the great August Wilson
I read the book in its entirety as I really wanted to get a sense of the personality of August Wilson; what drove him; his politics and motivations. I certainly learnt alot about him and his ideological outlook on life and his committment to African American theatre and the black aesthetic. He reveals very little about his thoughts about his German father who abandoned the family when he was young but certainly admires the devotion of his mother who instilled in him a love of reading and his committment to the tenacious spirt of African people. He shows an appreciation of history in insisting that the past matters to black lives as we cannot understand the present, nor prepare for the future, without a deep understanding from where we came from.
