Minimalist and functional
Clean looks, thin but sturdy, mouse rolls smoothly on the surface. Does not slip out of place. Very good product.

Smooth Free Movement, Great Tracking, Not Exactly an Objet d'art
I was using an old cloth bound thick mouse pad designed for the mechanical ball mice of yore. It was literally old enough to vote and then some and was all frayed and mushed down about the edges, and, truth be told, somewhat filthy. A real man's mouse pad. Never the less I was not really in the market for a new mouse pad. When you have used something for 23 years, you get attached to it. I just happened to see this 3M pad on Amazon with the claim of better tracking and 50% longer battery life for optical mice. So I decided to give it a go.The 3M mouse pad works fine, but then again so did the old crummy one. I will have to admit though that the mouse moves around far more freely. Tracking is excellent. As far as battery life goes, I will never know. I bought a new Bluetooth mouse a just a week before getting the pad, so I will have no basis of comparison...not that I would anyhow. Who keeps track of how often they change a mouse battery? I have NiMH rechargeable batteries stacked up like cord wood for all the junk that uses batteries, so changing a battery is no big deal but if I can get a blue moon and a half out of a battery rather than just a blue moon, why not.Positives:--It stays put. The foam rubber back does not slide around on my desk, but not having the adhesive backing means that I can easily move it if I want.--Nice free movement. My mouse feels like it is on ice skates compared to the old mouse pad.--Excellent tracking.--Easy to clean surface.Negatives:--The pad is very thin compared to the old pad and the edge of the pad is hard and sharp. If my mouse slips off the pad, one of the sliding feet on the bottom of the mouse invariably catches on the hard edge of the pad and stops dead. This is more of an issue of sloppy mouse handling on my part than a fault in the mouse pad, but it is somewhat irritating. So far I have been unable to discipline myself to keep the mouse on the pad. That's what happens when you use a thick cloth bound pad with mushed down edges for two decades, you get sloppy.--This thing isn't much to look at. It is sort of a minimalist M. C. Escher that never changes. If you like an interesting looking mouse pad, find something else. Not a big deal to me, but it is rather drab.As far as complaints that other reviews have mentioned, I can't say that the chemical smell is over bearing. If I hold the foam side up to my nose, yes, I can smell a chemical smell, but I don't notice it when it is sitting on the desk.I read a review that stated the surface was not durable and subject to excessive wear. I haven't had the pad long enough to observe that. It appears to be durable but time will tell.Other than the hard edge, I am quite pleased with this pad and would recommend it to others with the caveat of the surface durability.

Finally, a mouse pad that works with Apples Magic Mouse.
Real simple: I have used multiple pads and the magic mouse always drags. I even bought the expensive stainless steel mouse pad....waste of money. Happened upon this mouse pad and now the magic mouse feels like a normal mouse. Quick and smooth operation. Wish my mouse was bigger, but this pad makes it more user friendly.

Replacement For Worn Out One
Don't know why the prior one stopped working sufficiently. This is a replacement and is obviously thinner but seems to work well.

The Little Pad That Could
Let's be real, who thinks about mouse pads? I didn't, until I stumbled upon this gem from 3M. It's like finding out there's a secret ingredient in your grandma's recipe that makes all the difference. This mouse pad, with its sleek design and surprisingly robust build, has become my desk's unsung hero. I didn't expect to write an ode to a mouse pad, yet here we are.Its surface, smoother than a jazz saxophonist on a Saturday night, has made my mouse movements more fluid than I thought possible. I'm no gamer, but I imagine this is what they feel like with their high-tech setups. The non-skid base? A game changer! It sticks to my desk like it's been sworn to protect my productivity. No more mouse pad slip-and-slide during those intense spreadsheet marathons. Then there's the wrist rest. I never paid much mind to ergonomics, but this little cushion has been a revelation. It's like a tiny, supportive pillow for my wrist, reminding me to take care of myself even during a deadline frenzy. It's the kind of comfort you didn't know you needed until you have it, like discovering the joy of heated car seats in winter. And durability? I've spilled more coffee on it than I care to admit, and it still looks new. It's like it has a force field against my clumsiness. So, yes, it's 'just' a mouse pad, but sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. This isn't just a pad; it's a silent, steadfast companion in my daily digital quests. Who knew a mouse pad could spark joy? Marie Kondo, eat your heart out!

Superior performance
I have a wireless bluetooth mouse (Arc) and its performance was starting to get spotty. I had a pretty beaten up mousepad so I thought I would replace it. After reading some reviews I splurged and got a gamer grade mousepad, but my mouse would not work on it. cursor would not move, the sensor was just not picking up a reflection. So back to the drawing board and I found this pad. I thought I would need to replace my mouse but now it works perfectly. the design on this pad is smart, and my mouse "sees" it perfectly. I don't remember when a sub $10 purchase has been so amazing! You will not regret getting this perfect mousepad.

Good but stinks
Good size. Works well. Can't confirm power usage claims, not using with a wireless mouse. Terrible industrial chemical odor that never completely disappeared even after airing out and cleaning with moist wipes. Smell transfers to hand when using. Did not come sealed in plastic, so unknown if it's a manufacturing problem or was stored near chemical solvents or petroleum products.
