Classic and Inspiring Work on Bodyweight Exercise
This book explains how Hershel Walker worked out as young man with nothing but pushups, pull-ups, and running to get in great physical shape for football. The story is inspiring because it shows that fancy equipment and gym memberships are not needed to get in great shape. All you need is desire and consistency to DO these basic exercises.The book includes a workout schedule that is designed to increase effort over time. You will have to find a pull-up bar to do the program.I bought the book on Amazon and paid a collector's price, but it was well worth it. I gave the book to my boys and it inspired them to do push-ups and pull-ups in their room every night before going to bed.

My hero
Herschel walker has been a hero and role model of mine for a long time, especially now that he is fighting competitively in his late 40's. The book shows a number of different push up variations in addition to Mr. Walkers personal experiences with different types of exercise. We all love Herschel, especially in his senate run
I have the original 1985 publication of this book. It's a nice introduction to basic athletic training for everyone regardless of age or condition, and includes some cool info added here and there about Walker's own experience with coaches and life.But unlike many reviewers said, this is not about bodyweight training being the key to fitness. He also includes the importance of weight training, especially of the king of all exercises the barbell squat. Most people- even today- still think that running is "for your legs" or that squats will hurt your knees. I feel sorry for these people living in a dreamworld. But more power to them for at least starting an exercise program. Most never stick with any program that can help them with longevity, let alone daily strength and vitality. Such a program must be continued for life to do any real good.All in all a fun book for beginners, with lots of pictures and inspiration from one of the greatest genetic marvels ever to grace the playing field. By the way, don't think he "got that way" from simply doing pushups and running!

Amazing!
Best book ever.........Herschel Walker is one of a kind. This is the best investment you can make if you are not a big weight-lifting kind of guy (or gal). There's crossfit and then there's WALKERFIT! One makes you good at working out and the other one makes you a good athlete!

Preposterous price
At over $2000 I'll pass. You can save a ton of money buy doing pushups, situps and running sprints just like he did.
