Only initial comment; not full review
I bought this used and the description said that it had markings and so on, but it is like new and it did come with a CD. I like Shingen’s style and meditation techniques, so we shall see if I like his writing. I have chronic acute pain, so I’m hoping that it will help me manage that through mindful meditation. I will update this review once I read the book.

Very helpful book.
Concisely written. CD was very helpful. Best for those experiencing pain at the moment. Would like to see a version for relaxation when not under the stress of pain.

break through pain
I am sorry thie took me a while to write. This books step by step how to deal with your pain as your getting ready to meditate to release the pain and let it go. Great for people learning to meditate, and learning to release negative energy.

disappointed
The 1997 Sounds True cassette tape version is so much better than this watered-down, tired-sounding CD and book. After using the taped version, which has four longish guided meditations and is so inspiring and helpful, the very brief guidance for the meditations on the CD version gives the impression that the author became bored or burnt out with teaching. I will continue to use the the cassette tapes and will throw out the more recent CD and book.

Took me forever to finish reading this book. Boring and the techniques used are next to impossible to follow - Sorry but this is my opinion. Others may enjoy and possible benefit.

great!
This little book is great, as everything by Shinzen. I don't suffer any chronic pain, however I am serious about meditation and whenever I have to face pain (and it happens often, specially when I went on a 10 days retreat, mi right knee was killing me!) the information in this book comes in very very helpful. If I had any chronic pain, without a doubt this would be my first approach. The book itself is very well written, with the clarity that characterizes Shinzen, and the audio is also very helpful if you are not familiar with meditation.

amazing contents, easy to read, use and learn
Never disappointed with him, his writing is motivating, inspiring and easy to take into practice. A CD with practices to go with it to even make it more easy to take you in everyday practice. It has helped me a lot.
