The book arrived in perfect condition and saved me a bunch of money
I needed this book for my class at Macomb Community College. It was the exact book I needed for class at less than half the price that the school was asking. The book arrived in perfect condition and saved me a bunch of money. Tim Gilles has written basically every book I have needed for this program. I have found this book and most of his other very well put together with accurate information. Next time I need a book for classes I will definitely have to check here first before going to the campus book store. The cover art and numerous diagrams and cut aways are very well illustrated.

...
This was $80 cheaper than buying it at the school bookstore, which was an hour drive for me. This was delivered to my door in 2 days, so not only was it cheaper than the bookstore, but I didn't have to pay for gas to get there either.

I take Auto Shop Classes at Junior College
This is the required Textbook for my Fall 2013 class: Basic Engine Repair. At the college bookstore, it is $185.Lately a student posted on Craigslist 6th edition $60. Too late, I already bought my book. The books from Del Mar Learning ("Today's Technician" series) are poorly written, poorly edited, and the full-color pictures show you nothing. This book seems to be better written. I started reading it early because it is about 700 pages long. That works out to about 41 pages reading per week. The amount of learning in a College (vocational) (technical) class is many times based on the amount of work that the student puts into the class. That is, time spent into the lab time, listening closely during lecture and asking questions, and reading the book and doing the homework.I am 61 years old and retired. (I already have a B.S. from the University of California in Business). When I was in Junior College the first time, tuition was $5 a semester. This one class (4 units) is $190. In the old days, if you spent $50 for books (and you were carrying a full load, 15 -17 units), you were taking all hard classes. One of my classmates spent $1,000 on books for one semester. This is not a good trend; our country needs to take a hard look at the costs of education, cap them or better, reduce them, or we will become a country of some rich and educated, but mostly poor and uneducated.Using a smart phone does not count as being educated.

good book
I bought this book for my engine overhaul class we would read a chapter and apply what we learned from the book to the engines in the lab. This book combined with a great teacher will teach you a lot about engines.

Kindle Version
I haven't read the print version, however the Kindle version in Goodreads is virtually unreadable. The text lines leapfrog each other, so that in order to read a continual sentence you must read every other one printed. Images don't match with descriptive either. A veritable jumbled mess, which is unfortunate because I have read Mr. Gilles other offerings in print and he is very accurate, thorough and easy to read - even for those of us who are lay persons. Goodreads did Mr. Gilles wrong.

Good
This arrived on time an my husband loved it for school. Although he didnt use it much in class it still came in handy when he did need it. And it was alot better than going to the book store and hunting them down.

Great Book
This book is a great resource (during and after class!). And to get it at a great price was helpful! Text books are expensive, so this was a great deal.
