Gaido's Famous Seafood Restaurant: A Cookbook Celebrating 100 Years

I was shocked, this book looks new, is actually giftable!,beautiful Coffee Table book! Wow, will definately buy from again.

I really like this cookbook. My family has been going to the Pelican Club for over 40 years and I grew up eating many of the recipes in this book. I was so excited when this book came out because, I always crave the the Wade Watkins bisque but don't want to make the journey from Houston to Galveston just for a cup of soup. The recipes are pretty easy, but not so straight forward. I consider myself an intermediate cook and feel that they should have been more descriptive in some of their ingredients. Specifically the ambiguous bases it constantly references to use. They slightly allude to it in the beginning of the book, but i feel it would have been more proper to have recipes for the bases included in the book. Other than this minor detail, I am proud owner of this book and am so thankful that they shared their recipes with the world!

Wonderful recipes from my favorite restaurant

My family and I have been fans of Gaido's for many years. I had my Wedding Rehersal Dinner in one of their large rooms a few years back. I have been trying to get some of their recipes for years, and now I have not only their recipes, but the histories of how these recipes evolved. This is a great cookbook for anyone that loves seafood. In fact, it is a cookbook for anyone period!! I wish to thank the Gaido Family for sharing these recipes with the rest of us.

This is one of probably ten cookbooks I have purchased and given as gifts, commenerating Gaido's 100 years of serving fabulous seafood at their restaurant on the Seawall, and the Pellican Club. The recipies are all excellent and the history of the family through the years is interesting to all who know Galveston, or who may have just been occasional visitors.

Anyone that has visited or lives on the Gulf Coast of Texas needs to purchase this cook book. Not only does the cook book contain some great receipes, it also provides the reader with some interesting history regarding the city of Galveston.I would highly recomend and it also would make a perfect gift.
