Can this sprayer be used for outdoor oil based stain

The ControlMax 1700 Pro can spray some outdoor stains as long as it will clean up with mineral spirits or a product that has a flashpoint of less than a 100 degrees. Flashpoint is the point at which something can ignite. The flashpoint should be listed on the container of the cleaner you are using. You also want to make sure that you have the correct tip size for the product you want to spray. This sprayer will support a .017 spray tip but comes with a .015 spray tip so depending on what spray tip the stain manufacturer recommends you may need to purchase another spray tip.
