The garage door lock that saved my wallet and life!
This was a universal T mount and fitted my garage door perfectly. If anything it is even a tighter fit and was perfect. It was December 24th the key I had for my garage broke in my lock. I just came home from work and was no mood for a whole lot of needless problems. I had a locksmith card in my wallet and thought I could trust them after all the business was a mile away. Previously made keys from them before when I worked for and lived in a hotel and put my faith and trust in themWhat happened was hard to believe in a review I called for a quote the guy said he would come right over instead of telling me the rate. Once he came over he was quoting me 90, 95, and then up to 175 and then called the cops on me. He removed the broken piece of the key from the lock but he quickly rekeyed the key, so I was unable to open my garage door except for the second door which my sister uses and I had key for. I had to use the second door to open my side of the garage port for a week before I installed this lock. That was not even the worse part I was prepared to even settle for the 90 dollars and pay 50 cash and the rest credit card for him to come over since I didn't have the full amount of cash with me but he refused to budge. I did this for his benefit so the authorities wouldn't get involved and I could of settled the matter quietly. This was done primarily for two reasons, so my neighbors don't lose trust in me and second for community good will. Unfortunately, none of that really matters anymore with the way people and services are disposable now. I had a hard time believing this guy was an accredited locksmith since he didn't have any real sort of identification and was bald. He was barking like a dog the whole time when I refused to pay him and looked like a gang member. Too bad he didn't cluck like a chicken I could of had a good laugh when he left. The cops did tell both of us it was a civil matter, but the fact of the matter is he has my name, address, and contact information, and I also lost trust in people and small businesses which unfortunately in my case is really hard to get back. If you see me in the street looking down and jaded now you will know why.Sufficient to say this lock was perfect for my needs my garage is basically empty and I only have my car in it. I know I don't live in a great area and my garage is located in a public car area which hoodlums occasionally hang out and smoke weed. I was only disappointed that I waited a week to install it out of fear that I would hurt myself because this was the first time I replaced a garage lock. Shipping was quick and I was worried I would not able to find a similar lock in my neighborhood hardware store. I have a sneaking suspicion I would not be able to find this specific lock at my neighborhood hardware store because it seems like you can only purchase it from a vendor that does sell garage door equipment. If I move and leave my apartment complex for whatever reason i'll make sure to replace the other garage door lock before I leave with this specific lock.I have other problems at the moment with my life and a key lock shouldn't be one of them. I'm glad i bought this and it worked out for me.

Works, easy to replace
We have purchased several of these to replace locks on outdoor RPZ enclosures. This last one a contractor broke a key off in the lock of the old one, with low price it's easy to just swap out for a new one. Spray it a couple times a year with WD40 type spray and it lasts for years.

Good quality locking garage door handle
I recently decided to install a locking handle on the outside of my second garage door. After a bit of research I determined that for my door configuration I needed three things. Snap slide locks, a swivel lock, and this locking handle. The locking handle will require three holes to be drilled through your door. I found a spot on the frame inside my garage door that was clearly marked for this configuration. I simply ran a drill through from the inside of these holes out the front of the door. I then cleaned up the rough metal edges on the front of the door and slid this handle in. Voila, it fit like a charm.Inside the door I secured a swivel lock to the post of this handle then ran cables out from the swivel lock to the spring slide locks on either side of the door. Unlocking the handle and then turning it twists the swivel lock enough to tighten the cables out to both snap slide locks causing them to retract enough to allow the door to rise. This handle does not automatically lock. When you turn the key the handle becomes unlocked and stays unlocked even when you remove the key, until you put the key in and twist it back to the locked position. This is actually very nice for my needs as I tend to keep a lawn mower or snow blower on the other side of this door. And, I like to close the door as I'm working in the yard but don't necessarily want the hassle of having to unlock it every time I need the gas can.Installation was easy, and the handle has worked great for me so far so this handle gets five stars.

Item is junk
The handle only turns 90 degrees when unlocked . That is not enough to turn a garage door cable system bc the first 45 degrees in the inner handle spins free so u can open from inside when the lock is locked outside. Hence the cables have to be so taught that the 45 degrees of engagement lifts the locks over the stops on the rail . With that it is easily bounced up in down to get the locks to slip past the stops. Not how the cable lock system is supposed to be set up.

Good replacement lock. Duplicate keys are a challenge.
Installed easily, seems pretty syurdy. I like that it doesn't have alot of play in the handle like the old one. If you plan to have duplicate keys made be prepared to do a little traveling. I went to that orange big box store and two hardware stores only to find out that blanks are not available. NOTE: this was also true for the "T handle locks" being sold by the hardware store. This was not the case until recently. So something new is in the works as far as keys and locks go. I was told to go to the Key Magician, a small locksmith shop 5 miles in the opposite direction with limited hours. And yes the new screws are to short for my old door-the old screws worked just fine in the new assembly.

Exactly what I needed
I have a door where the center hole is large enough for a 5/16" shaft but nothing larger. This picture does NOT show the shaft connection below where the door surface will be but it is. So I guess correctly. I had an existing shaft, so I knocked the holding pin for the shaft out of this product and installed my old shaft. The T-Handles I found at Lowes and Ace Hardware had the knock-out pin built as an extension of the handle that went into the door. That would make it much easier to punch out the pin to change a shaft but I did not want to expand the size of the existing hole in the door.

Fit my existing hardware.
We bought a new house and quickly realized the previous tenants must have lost the garage keys so off I went to the home improvement stores to find a replacement. None of them had anything that fit the holes and existing hardware.Thankfully I found this one and though it took a bit longer than I had hoped for, it's a perfect fit and replacement.

Description is lacking a bit of needed info
Screws were not long enough for my door. Had to go to Home Depot and get longer ones. The handle is locked in the position shown in ad so inline with mounting posts. However, the one I was replacing was locked when it was 90 degrees from the mounting posts. This was not mentioned anywhere in ad but is, I think, pertinent info to know. I checked several neighbors garages and theirs was the same as mine - mounting posts vertical and locked when handle horizontal. Since I need my garage somewhat secured I will keep it until I can find a suitable replacement. I just want others to be aware of this in case they are in a similar circumstance.
