Great little bible
This is a great Bible with some excellent cream colored Bible paper that is line matched and easy to read you can feel the quality and it inspires you to read your Bible more. With a little care that should last you a long long time as the construction method is very solid. This Bible is small but reads and feels like a much larger Bible. The maps are very high quality and the way that the font is set up and the way it combines with the paper it is very easy on the eyes I'm much prefer single column reading. The fact that it is printed in Denmark is another high quality benchmark that you would expect from Cambridge

Prefer it over the goatskin
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the goatskin version.. I actually bought this because I am afraid to carry the goatskin version around with me for fear of it getting damaged. I was not expecting the calf split leather version to be as nice as it is. I absolutely love this thing. Maybe it's the feel of the leather, but with the goatskin, I feel like I am going to break it.. it is so soft. This Bible is exactly what I was after. The stiffness of the leather starts to soften almost immediately, yet it is durable and feels like it is well protected. All I can say is that this Bible is excellent, and If I had to choose between this one, or the more expensive goatskin as my one Bible to own, I would choose this one. Because I found a "like new" version on amazon, I actually paid a hundred dollars less for this version as well! Aside from the leather, the NASB Clarion is all around great. The text is the most readable of any Bible I've ever handled. The line matching is nearly perfect, and it is just a pleasure to read. I had been reading a standard $30 Bible for some months now, and thought my eyes were adjusting to the bleed through.. but now that I am reading this regularly, I just can't go back. Any Bible that is a reliable translation is a great Bible, but the NASB Clarion is more beneficial for me than others I have used, as I can read more clearly without focusing so much on what the words are, and I can focus more on what the words mean! Reading the black letters is always crucial, but never forget to read the white as well.

This Bible is an absolute joy to read
This Bible is an absolute joy to read. It lays beautifully in my hand. The paper is bright white. To reduce the effect of ghosting, the lines on the backing page are printed right behind each line. The font, though just 8.75 is very readable. The binding is sewn and the calfskin leather feels great. The cover is flexible enough to make quick access to a specific chapter/verse easy. It supports the pages just enough that reading with one hand holding the Bible is comfortable. It has a 110 page concordance! Maps (with index) are excellent. This was a big expenditure for me; I am delighted that I made it! I was reading the NASB daily on my Kindle. Now I look up the daily reading on my Kindle and read them in this Bible!

brown calfskin
when you pay big money for a bible you expect big results. this bible delivers on the quality side but not the control side. quality control at cambridge could be better. but they make life timme bibles. and the defects are so small theyre really not worth mentioning. but for those interested. cambridge usually has a problem with the pages having lines or tiny creases in the paper, but after you use your bible these patterns work themselves out.the calfskin feels like its been ironed for smoothness. it has a slight sheen. it is pretty stiff but i own a kjv cameo ive had for a few years and after using it everyday the leather is just now being broke in. that show true quality leather. that is why i chose the calfskin over the goat. the goatskin is only durable because cambridge edge stitched and bound the pages to an inside leather that sewn to the cover(edge sewn and smythe sewn).if you want a stiff leather that takes time to loosen up then get calfskin, the brown calfskin soaks up skin oil and put unique patterns on the cover nailing as your bible.if you want a very flexible bible go with goatskin, it is more water resistant than calfskin, thinny and sometimes smoother.if your on a budget but still want a nice bible go with calf split. calf split is actually calfskin that is spit, they use the bottom portion of the leather. this makes for a thinner more flexible calfskin. not as sturdy but if treated the way a bible should be treated then theres no problem. most bibles today are pigskin leather, my step dad has owned a pigskin leather bible for 30 years, and yes it is falling to pieces. but cambridge garuntees this wont happen with their premium bibles. hey you cant go wrong with cambridge. or r.l. allen but good luck finding one of those

Good value
For the money I think this is the way to go; it was cheaper for me to get this than the calf-split by a good margin. Only downside is the pages are a little thin. It would be better if there was a tab on the liner, but the leather is top notch. The format and translation are on the mark for me and I think the side references are really gonna help to understand the scripture's in relation to each other. Footprint make's this a good all around bible in my opinion; no problem carrying this or straining because of the font.

Simply Excellent!
Absolutely everything about this edition is excellent! The binding, the paper, the font, line matching, single column format, the Calf split leather (tough and durable unlike the flimsy and wimpy goatskin edition), references, hand-sized, and portable... the perfect Bible. The NIV Clarion also has thicker, brighter paper than previous Clarion editions (I also own the NASB & ESV Clarion editions), and the format appears to be enhanced/spaced for an even cleaner look too. The NIV Cambridge Clarion (or any Cambridge Clarion) is definitely money well spent.**The show through is not as bad as shown in the photos. These photos were taken with entirely too much light above.

Convenient size, great Bible (NIV)
The size of this Bible is good for travelling and also to keep at bedside.Typeset is 8.75 on French paper, printed and bound in Netherlands. It is easy to read even though it has only one column format. With one column format it is easier to lose my spot while reading but because it is a smaller size Bible, this has not been a problem. This edition is in black calf split leather; looks and feels good.

Pricey but what a gem.
I've had and handled many bibles in my Christian life but never as good as this one. Paper quality is first class with little bleed through. Printing clear and easy to read, larger than most bibles this size. The binding is exceptional with a beautiful calf split leather cover, a delight to handle. With the reference and concordance sections this really is worth it's price.

exquisite... finally
1-2016: I bought this used on Amazon japan for ¥10,000 , yet it looks totally like new... I've owned many Cambridge Bibles and this one is by far my favorite .... it's exquisite .... I would say it's the perfect Bible , finally the font is so sharp and clear... true the pages are thin but that's what you get in a small portable Bible like this but the paper is very high-quality.... and it's very comfortable to hold ...the font is small compared to Cambridge presentation Bible but I like it so much better ... there's none of the annoying pronunciation marks which clutter up the text, I love the paragraph format, the way the sections of the Old Testament are set like poetry , the way Old Testament material that appears in the New Testament is put in capital letters , the cross references and translators notes in the margin are a wealth of information, true these notes are very tiny and I have to use a magnifying glass but again they're very sharp and clearly printed ... amazing technical achievement in this Bible.... and this NASB translation I think is the best modern English translation .. (I had the KJV clarion but I found the block of text to be too dense , the paragraphs very long with no headings, it was just very hard for me to read and I returned that) but this nasb is so much more readable ... the way the text is presented is so much better... (also I like the calf split leather cover much better than the more expensive goatskin covers which of late have been very thin and rather poorly made) .... this split calf leather material is very nice , very comfortable to hold , it offers more support... feels good too...its not droopy like the supersoft goatskin covers .... also there's two black ribbons the gilding on the page edges is very well done ... everything about this Bible is perfect to me... it's the best Cambridge Bible I've ever owned and I've owned pretty much all the Cambridge Bibles... I've been buying Cambridge Bibles for over 20 years and finally I decided to try this Bible and I'm just amazed that I bought it used but I don't think it is used , it's really beautiful , exquisite , this Bible makes reading an adventure .... also I found with the thin paper if I smooth it out with my fingers as I read it The font becomes a bit darker.... it takes a little while to get used to the smaller font I wear glasses , my vision is not that good but this is very sharp and clear and it works good for me.
