Luthiers, this is the stuff you want.
A buddy of mine works is a fellow guitar builder and also has a day job at an auto body supply store and turned me on to this stuff. I had never even heard of the company before. He gave me a couple of trial pieces to use for my latest guitar build.First off, there is nothing worse than going through all the trouble of building a guitar and lacquering it only to wetsand and have water go into a hole and blow the grain up and crack the finish! Yep, it’s happened to me, and my buddy as well. This stuff takes care of that problem completely!!! No wet, just sand. I have since purchased several grits from here and elsewhere depending on the price. This stuff is really expensive.. BUT it lasts a really long time. I can sand back a whole guitar with one of each grit. Just make sure you clean the paper every couple minutes so it doesn’t load up. I wear an apron and I wipe it across that every minute or two and it works great. Each box will last me several years (yes, really). This is the stuff to get, I promise you.They do make a little pneumatic sander specifically for this paper, but it’s EXTREMELY expensive. I use their hand sanding pad and couldn’t be happier. It really is that good.

Product is awesome. Great for sanding base coat in the spray booth. It can be a life saver for dirt nibs or small defects mid paint job. The cloth backing makes it flexible so you don't get deep scratches from folds in the paper.

Eagle assilex orang sheets
These sheets are absolutely incredible. Was given one at a body shop to try on my car project and it is amazing how well they cut the paint and don't wear out. Very happy with this product, also purchased the holder that goes with it, better for blocking

Eagle sand papers are the best in the auto body world. If you repair cars or boats you should try Eagle it lasts longer then 3M
