Ratchet
For the money it’s ok. Ratcheting action is a little tight

Excellent product-
Purchases and used last weekend. Worked very well. Easiest nice even caliper piston compression. Make sure the rubber seals are not pinched in the process. Cannot be improved.

Good tool
Takes a minute to learn how to use it since there are no instructions but once figured out it beats a c clamp any day especially on dual piston calipers good price seems to be a good quality tool also

Fantastic.
Skeptical at first, but this will be my go-to for breaks. Love it

You might be able to make it work but ...
I already had a brake piston compressor ... the ubiquitous rotate-the-piston-while-pushing-the-piston-in style ... but it required the caliper to be open on the outboard side. My car has a vanity plate blocking the open part of the caliper so I bought this as i did not need to rotate the piston, just push it back in, and this just goes inside the caliper where the pads go.Everything was going to plan until I tried to use the ratchet to expand the plates. Sadly the ratchet is so crude and the pawls so tight, that the only way it would 'ratchet' was if I was able use pliers to hold the hub on place so the pawls would move to the next location.I will admit that the ratchet would actually work the way you would expect a ratchet to click to location after there was some tension from the piston on the plates, but until then, good luck.TL;DR; Works as DIY, one time deal if you don't have any other solutions, but if I had to use this more than as an emergency ... i.e. in a production environment where time is money ... I would not be able to find a trash can fast enough.

Not the easiest to use
This is not the easiest to use. Once I figured out how to use it, it works good. You would think that using it would be straight forward but its not. first use it wasn't ratcheting correctly just cause it was new and dry. A little lube and it works much better. You do need 2 hands to use it and hold everything in place and a third hand to hold the caliper. Now I am a ASE certified tech and been doing brakes for over 20 years now and there are easier kits out there. If you have a single piston caliper it will work fine. For a big heavy duty truck with dual piston calipers, not so much. Takes a little creative thinking and extra pads to make it work. I'd go with a single screw type compression with a hex end that I could put a socket on it and use a ratchet or drill to compress it with. Just my 2 cents
