I wasn’t expecting much from this book, but… I’m raising a family of boys, and it never hurts to let them be more aware of the nonverbal messages they are sending.More than flirting – we have found these tips useful in college interviews, theater auditions, meeting Dad’s clients and Grandma’s friends, and job interviews.It’s a good book to leave around – they will pick it up when Mom and Dad aren’t watching.

I had never heard of Fran Greene. She was to be a speaker (talking about the art of flirting) at a singles event I attended. As she approached the podium, I braced myself for what I thought was going to be a boring and silly talk. Was I ever surprised! From the moment she started her presentation, I was captivated. I never realized how unknowledgeable I was about flirting. She made me realize basically why I am still alone! After the talk, I immediately bought the book.It is really wonderful! The book breaks down the various flirting related topics in a clear, concise and humorous manner. It contains colorful illustrations and wonderful quotations from people such as Oprah, the Dali Lama, Eleanor Roosevelt and many more. Real life examples are provided and I truly felt, as I read through the various passages, that Fran had read my diary and was writing about me!Fran discusses at length the well known fear of rejection. She includes the many roadblock statements we all make which impede our ability to flirt and connect with people, and then counters each one with a positive new approach. She delves into the essential rules for success and incorporates some flirting "tricks of the trade"!Body language and its importance is covered (eye contact, smiling etc.) as is the importance of being a good listener.So many interesting topics filled this wonderful book-the importance of looking ones best, mastering the art of small talk (Fran even provides some sample conversation starters) flirting props and (I loved this one) the best places to flirt (she gives 30!)I thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned so much from it. In her book, The Secret Rules of Flirting Fran Greene helps transform boring, nerve-wracking and scary social situations into a way to make new friends, work contacts, and love interests. She patiently guides the reader to overcome shyness and become a first class flirt. Fran also offers ideas like using props, clothing and smart topics as icebreakers to start great conversations. She helps readers to navigate as a flirt while waiting on line at a movie, eating alone at a restaurant, working a room as a party and even sitting behind a computer by offering the most up to date flirting strategies. She also explains the difference between flirting and a come on by defining flirting as fun, playful, friendly and non-threatening. An entire chapter is devoted to body language including the do's and don'ts and the body language flirting signals of men and women. She recommends the reader to let their body do the talking. Fran also devotes a chapter to flirting on line and explains how to use texting and social media like Facebook,twitter and instigram. Another chapter that I found extremely helpful was making successful first impressions. It contains lots of new ideas such as pretending to be the host of a party when the only person you know is the host. Fran ends her book with a chapter on the best flirting venues and best date ideas. They're all AWESOME !!!!! I highly recommend this book to anybody who wants to become a successful first-class flirt and get more out of life !

How do we flirt? Who needs to learn how to flirt? I guess the answer lies in realizing that there are many levels of communication, both verbal and nonverbal. When that is realized, the answer is....all of us! Fran Greene, a communications expert with a down-to earth touch and the empathy of the social worker she is, nails this topic perfectly. She makes the topic of flirting relevant and also generalizable to our everyday socializing, with suggestions that are straight-forward and simple. She does it in a concise wonderfully written, entertaining and enlightening manual. It is easy to read; it offers great suggestions, and it provides wonderful humor for what otherwise could be a somewhat embarrassing admission -that we can all use an improvement in our social skills. I highly recommend this book! You will be better for it- and not just those of you who feel shy, quiet, or lack self-confidence. Those around you will also benefit from your newfound abilities!.
