The flaps on the side aren't flaps - they're pieces of fabric flowing freely on the side. At first I thought it wouldn't work, but amazingly, it's exactly what's needed for a baby who constantly turns his head around! It fits over his head really nicely, too - the brim of the hat goes over the head and does not slide off at the top easily.

Super cute! We have a bunting with a hood which always slips off. This is perfect for underneath it in colder Michigan weather (like early winter). It's a relatively thin material, but works great.
