Can an adult sit up in the bottom bunk comfortably without hitting their head?

No. I am 5'6" and can only sit up on the bottom bunk if I am slouched - if I sit straight up my head hits the top bunk. This isn't an issue for us as my 7 year old uses the bottom bunk, but would be an issue if it were my 13 or 15 year old using it.

Purchased this item on may 8th 2020 and it said 2 day shipping and expected delivery may10-may18 .... it is now may 16th and it still has not shipped

On the twin over full bunkbed, would a 14 in full mattress work on the bottom?

I think it would fit, but not well. I don't think it would give you much space between the mattress and the top bunk.

What depth mattress was used for top bunk?

Unfortunately, I went with 6" memory foam mattresses on top and bottom based on responses I read. I wish I had gone thicker. I've read of a lot of others who have with no issues (see following similar questions and customer photos). I'm 5'2" and sleep on the bottom with lots of head space sitting up. I could have easily gone 8" on top and bottom. The 6" just doesn't give me enough cushion. I believe the manufr recommends 6" from what I've read on top so as not to go over the guard rail. I just find 6" to be too thin. Up to you ultimately of course. see less
