Polly Pocket 30th Anniversary Partytime Surprise Keepsake Compact with Micro Polly Doll, Mini Commemorative Magazine and Keepsake Box; for Ages 4 and Up

This really does feel *EXACTLY* like the Polly Pocket compacts as they were originally sold! There are a few differences, but they aren't really noticeable at all (for example, this is the first time this set was released in this color scheme). The colors are beautiful and it has a lot of details. This is the perfect collectors' item for any fan of vintage Polly Pocket, and also a great toy for any collector who still enjoys playing (like I do!) or to introduce today's children to Polly as we remember her so fondly!The toy has great quality, and the colors and details of the set are incredibly beautiful. I love the Polly included, as well as her adorable plastic teddy bear. The case also has a very beautiful, sparkling finish to it, and (as of now)the glitter hasn't rubbed off on my hands or other surfaces! That's always my primary concern about glitter toys so this is a great bonus.If you're like me and collect lots of different brands of toys, I have tested the set by seeing what other tiny toy characters can fit in it - MyMiniMixieQ's work rather well, though of course they can't sit in the chairs (because they lack articulation). It can also be used with the new Polly Pocket characters (of course, the 1-inch ones), and also the Shopkins Lil' Secrets, though they are a bit taller so they might look a bit large in some areas (the second floor where the DJ booth and dance floor are being the main culprits here). Much to my delighted surprise, my Shopkins Lil' Secrets characters actually fit inside the little holes perfectly! If you have any vintage Polly Pocket characters, of course, they'll fit inside the set and the little peg holes as well, as it was made for them! :)The set also comes with a cute little booklet with some information about Polly's history, as well as beautiful photos of other vintage sets. I hope to see more of these released again as well!If I were going to complain about anything, it'd be the price. I realize this is a 30th anniversary set, but $30 for one set is rather ridiculous when comparably-sized new Polly Pocket sets and Shopkins Lil' Secrets sets tend to be $10-$15 at full price. For this reason, I suggest waiting until you can find a deal for it. I decided to get it when I did because I found an Amazon Warehouse deal, *AND* even had a gift card! :) I would've also liked to see more included, especially if they want to charge this kind of price (for example, extra characters to attend Polly's party or maybe even another small set), but I guess it is what it is. Still, despite those setbacks, the price that I paid for it made me feel more than satisfied as a customer, so I personally won't warrant any lost stars (though I might've dropped it down one if I had paid the full $30).On the whole, this really is a spectacular set! I'm so happy to own it. If you like vintage Polly, I'm sure you'll love this! :D Here's hoping they re-release more like this soon!

It’s Polly Pocket made like an original, so it’s AMAZING! I do have a couple complaints that I will go ahead and get out of the way.Straight out of the box I didn’t like the feel of the compact. The glitter is beautiful, but it makes the case feel gritty and it leaves glitter on your hands. It would have been nice if there had been a clear coat of some kind put over the glitter so that the case felt smooth.Another thing is that the top portion of the compact won’t stand up straight. It either leans slightly forward or lays all the way back. For it to be at a playable angle, you might have to lean it against something. This of course has always been an issue with Polly Pocket being top heavy, but on this new compact, the hinge just won’t hold the compact up.I appreciate how much this compact is like the original. I also think the plastic might be a bit sturdier than the originals, at least when comparing compacts of similar size. This particular one also feels heavier than originals of the same size. I don’t have the original of this exact compact to compare, but comparing it to the nursery or townhouse, this one is much heftier.A side complaint would be that they changed some small things, like the interior colors. But I suppose maybe for collectors they would want this one to be a bit different.Overall though, I absolutely love it! Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but if you love Polly Pocket, I think it’s worth the money. I really hope they decide to come out with more original remakes, like the nursery or hair salon. I would throw my money at them without a single thought.

This is very cute and high quality, compared to the Polly Pockets manufactured today. They did it right for the 30th Anniversary! The book was very informational, even though it did have some information incorrect and there was a typographical error on the first page! I am not a huge fan of the colors they used in the newest reincarnation of the 1989 Partytime Surprise Keepsake Compact. The original colors were mint green and rose (perfect)--but the anniversary edition is pink and purple. Eh. The gift box inside the compact doesn't stay closed. Polly comes with a cute little dress on, but she isn't able to be put into any of the small holes that hold her when she's wearing the dress. The dress is removable, however. But I love the fact that the compact looks and feels just like the original Polly Pockets, and therefore, Mattel Toys, it proves that the original PPs CAN BE RE-CREATED!!! Bring back Polly Pocket the way it was supposed to be! And thanks for the 30th Anniversary compact!

Got this along with a few other Polly Pocket compacts for my friend's daughter. This was the only "classic style" one. Was excited to tell her this is a special anniversary one that looks like what your Mom & I used to play with when we were little girls like your age & here's your new version. Fun to share that link to a time long ago. She loved the gift. Very nice presentation & as others have said the bubble compact packaging design does look like a whole other compact of its own. Lovely giftable box.
