Bought these lights to replace another brand that was all plastic. For whatever reason, the plastic ones are not made very good and the frame on the outside of the lights broke. I had two of these on the wall and both broke when cleaning or simply dried plastic and cracked. These lights on this review are pure metal and painted. Heavy duty and can be used outside, but I mounted them inside our daughters room on the wall. They look great and the quality is top notch. We got the white colored lights.

Should last longer than plastic lights

I installed it for my entry way indoor. I liked the antique look. I removed one star because the frame that held the glass shade looked and felt very fragile.

I purchased three of these lights to replace a similar type made of steel which had rusted badly due to the weather and thin coat of paint. These units are all aluminum. I had to drill the base with two holes to mount them. This was a preference, not a requirement. They look great and the socket is set back far enough to to keep an LED filament bulb casting light evenly and instantly. I did try several other LED bulbs, but the light is directed too far forward and inline with the bulb making the illumination look lopsided. A CFL bulb does illuminate pretty evenly but takes too long to reach full brightness in cold weather. The LED filament bulb was the closest that I could find to the obsolete Edison tungsten filament bulb. I chose 2700 Deg K (Warm color) at about 85 watt equivalent which consumes a little over 10 watts.

Construction of this product is much cheaper than it appears in the picture. The grids in the front are incredibly flimsy (and much flimsier than what I'm replacing it with). In addition, there was missing paint on the grid on the front so the metal is exposed in places. Very disappointed.

The gasket supplied with the product isn’t notched to fit the base, so I had to cut a couple notches, as I didn’t want to risk rain being blown into the base. This gasket is also very difficult to install. The supplied screws are of very soft metal and the Phillips heads can be easily stripped. I solved these problems, because I had purchased it, but it requires a handyman for a couple hours to deal with the poor design/manufacturing issues.

ordered six. two came broken. return and replace was very easy.Install them in boathouse. Love them

Bought several for a new home build. 2/10 were cracked. Very cheap globes came out better through shipping. Visually same as picture.
