I like Collin's dictionary and I don't care what the ultracrepidarian mumpsimii say.
This is a fun dictionary. I like to have the British and American dictionaries because each includes words the other may not. Having both gives pretty much any word one wants to look up.I prefer looking words up in dictionaries rather than running to the internet. The Collins actually has the word "oojamaflip" and the name of that hard-pronouncing volcano in Iceland, Eyjafjallajokull. It also includes some modern PC terms such as "heteronormative".The one thing that some Americans may find off-putting is that it uses the International Phonetic Alphabet for its pronunciation and is much different than what one will find in, say, a Webster's dictionary. The book does not have a dust jacket. It is black buckram cloth bound and the orangish-red inside endpapers, which outline the history of Collin's, contrast beautifully with the black cover. Like the Chamber's dictionary, it also comes with a red ribbon marker; a nice added feature one sees more in Bibles than dictionaries, but the British dictionaries tend to have them whereas I have not seen many in American dictionaries like Webster's or American Heritage. American dictionaries tend to have thumb indices, though. Just a minor observation. The dictionary measures 10.25 by 7.75 by 2.5 and weighs in at 5 pound 10 ounces. It has 2310 pages + xviii. The sticker on the back cover peels off easily. On their website, Collins now accepts word suggestions for addition in their dictionary. Either online or in subsequent editions. This current one is the 13th edition. Maybe 14 will have words like"psithurism" and "neanimorphic"Besides good ol' Webster, I have both Collins and Chambers and I really like them both as each offers their own personality to one's bookshelf and if one doesn't have a word, the other will. :):)There...I hope that outline answers some questions not mentioned in the details if you're considering purchasing one. I say, if you're a logophile, "go for it" :):)

Love the look and contents!
Gorgeous dictionary! It doesn’t come with a dust jacket, which is fine — I always remove, crease, and neatly tuck them in the back cover for safe keeping anyway. In this case I could skip that step! It’s right up there with Merriam-Webster, Collins, American Heritage, and Oxford. Well bought.

This is the one to get
I've looked and looked for a great dictionary for my kindle. I started to edit my own and then discovered this one. It's abit pricey but well worth it. I've used it for a couple months and so far only had one word that needed external search to find the meaning. This dictionary is a must for every kindle user.

Not Quite
In the last two days i have referred to this massive work i was disappointed not to find a definition for "missish" from Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" that corresponded with the contemporaheous meaning of this rarely used word I found in The New Oxford American Dictionary. "Quanta", a word in common use in Physics, is defined only as the plural of "quantum" when it was used by Max Plank and Eistein at the turn of the last century to mean "discrete packets of energy (Plank) and light (Einstein)". "Superposition" in Collins is restricted to a geological term while it is more often used today to describe quantum entaglement. Band gap, in common currecy in physics and electronics, cannot be found at all.Despite these quibbles, this wonderful dictionary should be on everyone' Kindle or the hard copy on eveyone's bookshelf.C Betancourt, New York18 Nov 2018

Excellent reference
This dictionary comes from England, but it has both British and American spellings of words. It also has some historical references as well.

Recomendo. Grato.

This is FAMILY Perfect
We have been using a very out-dated dictionary for many years. This is our new addition to our family. Its publish date is 2018 and well made with library-style bindings and a ribbon style book mark. I am very happy with its content and I hope it will be in the family for all my Grandkids to enjoy for years.

Good precise definitions that are explained fairly simple
Good and precise definitions using fairly common words in the definitions. It also defines several encyclopaediaic words, which are enough elaborate to get just enough understanding of that word.Itht haven't got all words you would maybe expect. At some occasion there was used a word in the definition of a word that didn't exist in this dictionary. So, even being an unabridged dictionary, you will need to have access to other dictionaries too now and then. But overall I like it!
