Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top Brut Champagne NV 75 cl

This is a 5* champagne. I followed up a bottle of 2002 DP with this baby, so it's started life with lofty comparisons.Compared to the Piper Heidsieck (for, lets be fair, no good reason other than name) this is a lot more 'vanilla' in colour. Piper Heidsieck is extremely distinct in strength of colour, but this is a lot more in line with what you'd expect, with a much paler yellow.It is more effervescent than the 02 DP - but the flavour isn't so far off. A bit less smooth - though what do you expect for £80 less - but nonetheless a beautiful champagne.To continue with my tiering on other £30 NVs, I would put this on a par with the Piper Heidsieck - above competitors like Mumms, Moet, LP.A beautiful champagne.
